The help sagging sales, Ford offered a Limited Edition
models in 1992 and 1993. Three were offered in
1993: bright yellow and white LX convertibles. The white came with a white top
and white interior and the yellow either came with white and white or
black and black with chrome wheels.
Ford formed a
Special Vehicle Team (SVT) in 1991 to create high-performance cars.
SVT's first offering was the 1993 Mustang SVT Cobra. Their modifications
resulted in 10 more horsepower and better handling. Later in the year they
offered a race-ready Cobra R. The R had no rear seat, air conditioner, or
sound deadening material to make it lighter. The wheels were black with
chrome hubcaps. Only 107 were made.
The Saleen SA-10 was built to celebrate Saleen's 10th
anniversary. Preliminary plans were to build 10, but only nine were
produced. They were all black hatchbacks and had sequential VIN numbers.
The SA-10 featured items such as a Saleen design composite hood, bolt-in
rollbar, 3 piece Stern wheels, Saleen panhard rod, Saleen rear shock tower
brace and a Supercharger/ ceramic coated header power package. All the
cars special seating, a special gauge cluster and a CD player. On the
outside, there was a black, yellow and white paint and graphics treatment.
