Thunderstruck: Behind the Wheel of the World’s Fastest Mustang

By -

Fasten your seatbelts, YouTuber StangMode gets to experience the insane power of the naturally-aspirated Silver Bullet Mustang.

What is it like to drive the fastest 2018 Mustang on the planet? This is the question that YouTuber StangMode asked, and the lucky guy got to find out. In his recent video, he heads to Steeda Auto Parts to slide into their 2018 Mustang named “Silver Bullet.” Silver Bullet is fresh off of 10.2 second runs, and is a force of nature.

The Silver Bullet is a naturally aspirated 2018 Mustang. StangMode has a similar ’18 GT named “Black Mamba.” He is working with Steeda to mod his car to follow in the Silver Bullet’s footsteps, or rather, tire treads. So he is especially excited to see this speed queen in action.

StangMode notes that the major differences between his car and the Silver Bullet is its Circle D torque converter and Steeda air intake along with a Cobra jet manifold. The Silver Bullet also has more weight reduction, and Anderson composite trunk lids and hood.

It is an undeniably sharp looking ride. It truly impressive that this track monster can still be used as a daily driver.

He is joined by Scott, the Plant Manager at Steeda. Scott gives us all the info on how they made the car race ready. Under the hood is a stock long block gen 3 Coyote. Yes, stock. There is a Steeda closed lid cold air intake.

“It takes advantage of the cold air effect,” Scott explains. “So while it’s not going to be a dyno queen cold air intake, what it is going to do is give you the most horsepower at speed because all the incoming air is being rammed down the throat of this Coyote.”

Other mods include a Brett Barber Cobra jet manifold and long tube headers by American Racing. StangMode is surprised at how these are essentially basic modifications. No nitrous. No turbos. Just Mustang.

Inside, the car has no bare metal like most racers. It looks like a Mustang. StangMode fires it up. “Oooh,” he says. “That feels full racecar.”

He loads up the torque converter and gives it a go. It is thunderous.

“Wow, wow, wow! Doesn’t this feel great?” He enthuses. We can almost feel the rumbling power through the screen.

He gets a few runs in, and they are so cool. And we are so envious. The torque converter is palpable, the Silver Bullet really stays in the power. Steeda expects it will be running 9’s soon. After seeing it in action, we have no doubt!

“This is amazing,” he says to the Steeda crew. “This feels like a completely different car…I am intoxicated right now! It sounds great, it looks great. It is a speeding bullet!”
