Next-Gen Mustang S650 Is Reportedly Years Ahead of Schedule

Ford Performance is unstoppable right now. The Mustang, the GT, the Focus RS, the Raptor, the Focus RS RX (!) … it seems the Blue Oval can do no wrong at the moment. And that winning streak might have something to do with why the next-generation Mustang is already so far ahead of schedule. As in a two full years ahead.

The inside scoop was leaked in the Mustang6G forum by user TopNotch. He was somehow able to get his hands on a brief that details a bunch of future plans for a variety of vehicles. The most important car here, of course, is the seventh-generation Mustang. Apparently, the code name has been switched from S550 to S650. Additionally, “SOP has been shifted back from January 2022 to May 2020. Subsequently, the EOP for the S550 has been moved to April 2020.”

That’s one hell of a push and some great news for Ford fans everywhere.
