There are a few of us doing testing with the intake....locally Doug is working with Lee at C&L on stock and bolt on cars and in a few weeks or less we will be getting together with Doug and Lee at C&L to test a Turbocharged car with the new intake that we recently finished up.

Also note that the testing is taking place on a car that is far from stock:

"We just received our new CNL 3V Intake Manifold and will be adding it to a car that has Comp Thumpr Stage 1 Cams, CNL Racer Intake, and American Racing 1 3/4 Long Tube Headers with an Off-Road H-Pipe.
We will also be adding a 130mm Mono Blade Throttle Body to the mix. "

As they say on TV, your results may vary. The gains this test car might see could be far different from what you might see on a less modified car.

Tell me about it. most people want to see gains from a intake and a tune. Why do they always make it difficult

I gather from Paul's post that Doug will be doing testing on stock and lightly modified/bolt-on cars. So hopefully that will generate some good before and after data that can be used by owners of similarly set-up cars.

Yes, C&L is committed to doing a variety of tests to show accurately what you can expect from a stock bolt on to highly modified cars.

Right now I still believe a throttle body is a waste of money since we have made 600RWHP with a stock throttle body on an '05.....and that was with the stock CMRC plates as well which were left installed on purpose planning for testing of the new intake...we will go to delete plates and then to the new intake to show the gains at each step.

I would be extremely interested in some dyno numbers from this piece, if you get around to it.

I think the same on a stock car with a stock intake but so far in our testing we are showing clear gains with a larger throttle body. We have the same Whipple GT 130mm TB for testing and it showed the most gains but the price of well over $500 for just the gains is too much. Now we have a GT500 TB that we didn't have last week so the new testing will be performed using this and a stock TB as well as a significant change to the intake manifold overall size but I cant go into it too much.

One thing I can say is that with any change C&L makes the intake will still outflow the ported 3v cylinder head so we can and will make sure that no performance is removed for the sake of one modification list over another. C&L is looking to make the best overall intake manifold for both the lightly modded cars as well as the heavily modified versions, of course the more mods you make the more power from the manifold you will gain.

Thanks, Doug.

my understanding is that they are still testing it over at evolution and trying it on different setups from stock to highly modified. i guess they are trying to work out the tuning to get every last drop of HP. I probably guess that we wont see results till after the holiday, maybe for the new year we will see results but of course im hoping they show results sooner than that.

so would you have to have a C&L intake to use this, or would any intake that mounts to the stock location work?
