Road & Track Provides new Details on Mustang Ecoboost
Clearly, we all probably should just move on from the debate over whether the Mustang Ecoboost is a fitting name for the new model of the pony car.
It’s a done deal now as Ford is already kicking up promotions for the car by holding a recent closed-course ride-along for a few select journalists including the guys at Road & Track.
Notice I wrote “ride-along” as those who attended the event weren’t allowed to actually drive the car. That’ll come later.
Still, we learned a lot about the new four-banger pony car from Road & Track’s shotgun ride. For instance, the performance pack for the four-cylinder EcoBoost model doesn’t add any power, but it does improve the acceleration with new rear axle ratios.
Road & Track also reports that while the automatic Ecoboost model will feature a rev-matching feature, the manual model won’t. Also, the 2.3-liter runs 18psi of boost. In addition, the steering can be adjusted for three levels including Comfort, Normal and Sport, which combined with the other driving modes, gives owners a total of twelve different driving inputs.
Interesting, right?
