Mustang Undisputed Leader in Price Per Horsepower

2016 Ford Mustang

When you’re looking at purchasing a new sports car, there are a lot of different numbers to weigh. There’s price, horsepower, torque, weight, and on, and on, and on. But perhaps the best indicator has just been determined by the guys at Torque News.

According to their study, which looks at 21 different sports cars, “the 2016 Ford Mustang GT offers more bang for the buck than any other sporty coupe sold in the American market.”

They actually quantify how much each horsepower costs, price per unit. Out of all 21 cars, you just can’t beat the base 2016 Mustang GT, for which you pay exactly $76.54 per horsey. And the V6 and EcoBoost are up near the top too, with a rate of $82.65 and $84.82, respectively.

Keep in mind, there is a little bit of fuzzy math involved in the final computations, mainly because at $76.47 per horsepower, the 2015 Camaro V6 1LS trim technically packs more power per penny than anyone. But since those cars are on the way out, and since we know the price of the new models, Torque has overlooked that minor detail and named the Mustang the undisputed champ.

Honestly, it’s really hard to argue with that kind of logic.
