Mustang Shreds Tire on Dyno

Dyno runs are not supposed to go like this. In what can only be described as the most clear-cut example, this video shows what happens when things simply go wrong. And things went wrong big time for this Mustang GT as it decided to part ways with a tire in a most dramatic fashion.

This particular dyno run, which seems to have been one for higher speeds, had just the right amount of factors in making a tire go boom. Perhaps force from the dyno its-self, the actual surface of the dyno rollers, or even the straps holding it down were contributing factors. What is known is that this tire caused some serious damage, but thankfully not to anyone standing close by.

The force of the tire explosion is pretty impressive. Lots of sheet metal — some of which was very thick — was crumpled up like an aluminum can. The bumper and bumper cover pretty much removed themselves entirely from the car, and of course the obvious damage to the rim that housed the object formerly known as tire.
