Mr. Regular Says Everything You Want to Hear About the Fox Body

According to Mr. Regular, the Fox Body Is the Best and Worst Mustang Ever Made.

Mr. Regular knows what pushes your buttons. He knows what we all love and hate in an automobile. He knows we all love the Fox Body Mustang. Futuristic skin unlike any other Mustang was the most obvious change when it debuted in the late ’70s, but the underpinnings were still tried and true. It was new, but familiar.

That lovely 5.0 motor is the biggest attraction for the Fox Body. The Windsor 302 was a design that stemmed from 1961, and reluctantly stuck around till the early ’90s. Needless to say, aftermarket support has grown to a tremendous level for that engine. Parts can be thrown at it, and more horsepower can be made until you are left with only the block left original. Just don’t tear it in half.

The four-cylinder Mustang tested here had a fire-breathing 109 horsepower when it was new. One-wheel peels are its signature party piece, but on the 5.0, you could at least get a limited slip differential. Aftermarket support for the 4-cylinder (including the SVO) doesn’t even come close to matching the 5.0. Potential for cheap and easy horsepower is what we have come to love from the 5.0.

Stereotypes make up some of the best content for Mr. Regular’s show. Do you agree with the ones he uses here?
