1. Bullitt - 1968 GT390 Fastback

Bullit, a 1968 action and crime drama features the 1968 Highland Green Mustang driven by cop Frank Bullitt, played by Steve McQueen. Determined to bring down a kingpin, this fastback proves to be qualified for the job. If anything ever made you want a Mustang, it was these legendary car chase scenes between a good cop and the bad guys. To see the Mustang in action, click here

2. Diamonds Are Forever - 1971 Mach 1

1971's Diamonds Are Forever puts James Bond in Las Vegas on a diamond smuggling investigation. Getting him through the streets of Las Vegas in a hurry is this Mach 1. Was it the speed of the Mustang, or was it, Sean Connery that managed to give the cops the slip? And how, you might wonder, did he get the cops off of his tail? Well, you will need to check it out for yourself, but it just goes to show the Mustang was the wise choice for the part.

3. Gone in 60 Seconds - 1971 Mustang and 1967 Shelby GT500

It seems that when a Mustang is in a movie, it is always driving away from law enforcement. The 1974 low budget feature Gone in 60 Seconds brought into play a 1971 Mustang that was modified to look like the 1973 Mach 1. The 21st century Gone in Sixty Seconds remake, on the other hand, brought "Eleanor" back as a specially modified 1967 Shelby, and yet, still making an escape from the officers.

4. Lock Up - 1965 Mustang GT

I guess if the cop can't get to the Mustang, the Mustang will come to the cop. In this 1989 crime drama, Frank Leone (Sylvester Stallone) finds himself locked up in a maximum security prison, and with him is this red Mustang. But, as you will see from the video, keeping a Mustang cooped up is a crime.

5. The Bucket List - 1966 Shelby GT350

You know the Mustang is something special when driving it ends up on someone's bucket list. With death practically at the door, Edward (Jack Nicholson) and Carter (Morgan Freeman) take a road trip to make their remaining lives more full. This bucket list trip is what brings you the '66 Shelby, as Freeman races it against Nicholson's Dodge Challenger. Watch the Mustang in action and its victory here

6. I Am Legend - 2007 Shelby GT500

In case the world ends and you need to hunt the way cavemen once did, it seems the Mustang is the perfect machine to help. This Shelby GT proves to be worthy, driving through the jungle that was once New York City, now inhabited by living souls. And, even though the Mustang doesn't get more camera time in the movie, it is nice to have this scene that proves its performance.

7. Death Race - 2008 Mustang GT

Freedom and survival depended on the Mustang in 2008's Death Race. In a movie that requires inmates to race car, for the ultimate prize of freedom, many cars took the stage, but the star was the 2008 GT. Frankenstein's power and toughness are what Jensen Ames (Jason Statham) relied on to get him home and hold his little girl again. Watch this car escape Dreadnaught's vicious grasp, and those that did not here

9. Need for Speed - 2013 Shelby GT500 and 2015 Mustang

Framed for a crime he didn't commit, Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul) is on a revenge mission, and his initial weapon of choice is the 2013 Shelby GT500 that he helped build. On his way to the De Leon race, Paul puts the Shelby to the test while escaping the police gaining on him. You can view the chase scene video here. Even though the Shelby doesn't make it to the race that could prove Tobey Marshall's innocence, another Mustang gets a small part later in the film: the then all new 2015 GT.  Tobey abandons the Mustang and uses the Koenigsegg the rest of the way, which may be an even more awesome car.
