Introduction of the H850 Mustang Dark Horse

Last summer, Hennessey Performance introduced their H850 program for the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, a high-performance variant that has now officially gone into production. This enhanced version of the Mustang Dark Horse is designed to deliver exceptional performance, making it a formidable competitor in the muscle car segment.

Engine Enhancements and Power Boost

Under the hood, the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine has received significant upgrades, including a new fuel pump, upgraded fuel injectors, and a high-performance supercharger. These modifications, complemented by a high-flow air induction system and an advanced engine tune, elevate the engine’s output from 500 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque to an impressive 850 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. This results in a remarkable increase of 350 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque.

Performance Metrics

The enhanced power figures translate into outstanding performance metrics. The Hennessey-tuned H850 Mustang Dark Horse, equipped with a ten-speed automatic transmission, accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. It also completes the quarter mile in 10.9 seconds at a speed of 133 mph. In comparison, the stock model achieves 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and the quarter mile in 12 seconds at 118.4 mph. These improvements put the H850 in a performance bracket comparable to some supercars.

Pricing and Additional Features

The cost of the Hennessey upgrade package is $24,950, which, when combined with the base price of the Mustang Dark Horse at $58,935, brings the total to $83,885. Optional features include a Performance Wheel package for $4,950 and Heritage Graphics available in various colors for $4,500. Despite the high price tag, the H850 offers considerable value given its enhanced performance capabilities.

Warranty and Customization

Hennessey ensures that the H850 Mustang Dark Horse comes with a comprehensive three-year or 36,000-mile limited warranty, providing buyers with peace of mind. Additionally, the model features Hennessey-embroidered headrests, H850 badging, and a serial-numbered engine plaque, adding a touch of exclusivity and personalization. The vehicle can also be configured with either a ten-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission to suit different driving preferences.

Hennessey's Vision

John Hennessey, the founder and CEO of Hennessey Performance, emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing the driving experience for enthusiasts. "Our supercharged H850 Mustang Dark Horse builds on Ford's commitment to provide automotive enthusiasts with passion products like the snarling V8-powered S650 Mustang," Hennessey stated. This latest offering from Hennessey places the famous tuner in an advantageous spot in the world of aftermarket-tuned S650 Mustangs, which is becoming more and more competitive!
