Shelby American is Going Strong

The fact that Ford itself offers customers ultra-high-performance Mustangs under the Shelby badge doesn't mean that the power-crazed engineers at Shelby American aren't still putting their own magic into Mustangs. In fact, their own lineup of awesome Shelby cars is probably more exciting than Ford's.

The New Shelby GT

The most recent addition to Shelby's Mustang offerings is their Shelby GT, which is their own angrier version of the Mustang GT. Sitting below the 1000-HP Shelby 1000 and the 2 variations of the Shelby Supersnake, the GT and the Heritage version (GT-H) play the role of an entry-level Shelby Mustang.

Performance Upgrades

The Shelby GT gets a 20-HP bump in power from the Mustang GT to take it from 460 HP to 480 thanks to its Borla exhaust system. The suspension is improved as well with stiffer springs and anti-roll bars. Plenty of performance options will be available as well, the most significant of which is the Supercharger that brings the power output to 700HP!

Visual Upgrades

And as with any Shelby product, the styling cues are apparent in the new Shelby GT. The major changes from the Mustang to the Shelby include the addition of the Shelby grille, Shelby stripes, a new rocker panel, a rear spoiler, and plenty of Shelby badging all around. The GT-H features a special gold stripe livery, as well.

A Special Kind of Mustang

While the starting price for the Mustang GT is at around $37K, all these Shelby-brand upgrades will bring up the price tag to $61,345. The GT-H will cost an additional $5,000 on top of that. If you ask me, given how special Shelby American cars are, these Shelby GTs are worth the price. If you're interested in ordering one of these, my tip would be to opt-in for the supercharger!
