If you thought Ford had outdone themselves with the Shelby GT350, then wait until you get a load of the potential next move they have planned for the car.

According to Road & Track, the higher-performance track model and the more stripped-down GT350R model could be getting an optional dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters down the road. And given the kind of strides Ford has been making on the engineering front, we expect it’ll be just as amazing as the current Shelby GT350.

Rumors that Ford might be developing a dual-clutch transmission for the Shelby GT350 first surfaced in a Mustang6G.com report, a site which has been dead on in predicting Mustang developments that have come to fruition.

Of course, Ford offered its usual response when questioned about reports like these, telling Road & Track: “we don’t speculate about future products.” But according to the Mustang6G report, the Shelby could get the dual clutch transmission within the next couple of years.
