One of my latest projects. These calipers are powder coated and look absolutely stunning. I have to do the rear calipers. But I am not sure how to proceed. The front calipers had to be totally disassembled - pistons, seals, dustcovers. Special care had to be taken to provent any color to enter into this area. Then after the color process the calipers had to be reassembled including new seals. The calipers were brand new. So overall not the cheapest upgrade but one of the most unique touches to these cars. I also added brake lines from the BOSS!!! Let me know what you think.

I stole the wheels from my cobra so please disregard the snake on the center caps. This is a V6!!

How much did the paint job run you if you don't mind me asking?

 

wow. a lot of work I'm sure disassembling those calipers, but it sure looks awesome! definitely will hold up forever versus just painting them.

curious to see see if you notice any swooshing noises from those rotors. I just ordered a set of dimpled and slotted and heard this may be a side-effect.

 

Not a fan of cross drilled rotors. Far too many of them are cheaply made and crack around the holes.

Looks nice, blue just isn't my cup of tea.

 

I think the word brembo should be on them, it's would be even sweeter, but still very nice.

 

Brembos are not offered on the V6. These are the brakes from the GT500.

Caliper assembly and disassembly including replacement seals: $180

Powder coating the calipers and partial rotor: $175

Calipers and rotors......price varies from $899 - $1500 just shop around. Best advice: Purchase the Ford Racing KIT.

Yes a lot of work and many steps and for sure not an overnight upgrade. However it was worth it to me. The powdercoating results are much more durable than paint. The rotors are quiet. These were very also heavy. It came with the caliper set. I am not the biggest fan of drilled but I think for the way I drive this car these will hold up and should not crack.

Such rotors would never find its way on my cobra. 2 piece reduced weight slotted rotors and Brembo calipers.

 

putting the brembo wording/symbol back on in red would look pretty cool

Thanks!! Blue isn't for everyone I agree. The rotors......came with the caliper set.

I bet white calipers would stand out on your car.

 

what's the feedback on the boss302 low compressibility lines?

 

My question on powder coating is that since max brake temps can far exceed the temp that is used to fuse the powder coating, won't the coating blister when the temps get too high?

 

If the calipers got that hot the rubber seals would melt before the paint or powercoat would blister. I believe the calipers are powder coated from the factory.

 

So far so good. Not as robust as the braided steel lines I imagine. The lines are sufficient for spirited driving and developed for the road racer BOSS mustang .

Wow.....disassembly and reassembly of a new caliper for powdercoating takes about 20 minutes. No need for new seals. I've done a few...Guess I need to charge more!
