2010 Laded GT trade in value

I'm shopping my 2010 GT Premium auto trans around. Completely loaded with Nav. I have so far gotten 1 offer at 23k from one dealer.
Car is is great condition with 17.5k miles on it.
Seems kind of low to me I was expecting to here more like 24.5k
Car original msrp was 38k.
I'm going to hit another dealer Saturday and see what they offer. Looking to get into a 2012 Focus
thoughts on trade value?

I think the 2011+ powerplant tanked your value....

I'm thinking the same thing. We paid 28.5K for it a year ago. I'd like to keep it around but having a driveway queen that is costing $4-500/month is getting old. I plan on trading this and one other car. We currently have 3 cars and two drivers. And if we do keep it where does the value go in another year or 2?
We owe less so it's not an upside down situation

Dealers will always offer less than you can get on a private sale.

Did you run a value on kelly blue book?

The value of the 2010's are not to good. less power and gas mileage than a '11 5.0.

Coupe or Convertible? Coupe autos are a hard sell. If its a convertible you should get more than that.

They never give the top amounts on a trade, I always go by the bottom number and if they do better then you count yourself damned lucky.

Sell it yourself, don't trade.

even private party you aren't going to get TOO Much more than 23k. Might get 25-26k private party.

You could probably get a dealer up to 24k, but not much more than that.
As others have mentioned the 2011 has tanked your value, combined that now with the 2012 out as well, means horrible resale.

Hold onto it for longer if you can, it'lll level out

I think KBB is way off. Edmunds has more realistic trade in numbers. Just for fun I'm gonna look at a new 2011 GT500 this weekend and see what they offer me on trade.

I traded mine last month for a 2012 that I ordered. Went to the same dealer that I bought my 2010 and they gave me $23,500. Mine was loaded as well. Glass roof, Nav, Auto w/ 12,000 miles.

Then about a week after I traded, I got one of those "we need your used car" fliers from the same dealership in the mail saying they would give me $24,400 and that they were authorized to go higher! Talk about a kick in the pants. Oh well, I'm enjoying my new one just fine. Financed the same amount at a better rate for a shorter period so it's all good.

Oh, they put mine up for sale for just over 27k. Not sure if they got it but it's no longer on their lot. It didn't last three weeks.

i would check the NADA values because that is what they are selling at auction, usually you can squeeze that out of a dealer.

I havent seen alot of used 2010+ mustangs out there so the powertrain would only come up as an issue if they had a 10 and 11 right next to each other on the lot unless the buyer was an enthusiast

And if that is true its not worth doing as you would miss the tax savings of trading in.

Around here tax is 7% so 23k would give you 1610 in savings, so you are getting 24610. easyer to do that then waste time trying to sell privatly for 25k.

Tell them you want 24.5k

if they really want the sale of the new car they'll find a way to do it...its not like your just taking their money and running, your buying another car from them, ***** in your court...if they truely want the sale, make them work a bit harder for it, ive had a salesman do everything he could to get the sale, and he got the sale because he got exactly what I wnated for trade in value, and it was pretty much 3 grand more than what they offered. They have room, don't take the first offer they throw at you

you're right, didn't see he was in new york. I know that varies state by state.

that credit is why I will often trade in my car though, otherwise I'm losing thousands of dollars

Well, I got offered 24k at a Hyundai Dealer today. I am considering a Sonata 2.0T. Nice car. I would really prefer the Focus Titanium I looked at last week but if the Ford Dealer can't match the 24k then I will be driving a Sonata 2.0T. 24,500 OTD
I am also seriously thinking of just keeping the Mustang.

The Sonata is a fantastic car. I just bought my wife a 2011 in April. I tried to talk her into a Fusion but she didn't like how 'plain' they looked. We were also considering a Lexus IS but the car-to-value ratio on the Hyundai was too good to pass up. She got the Limited and not the turbo but that little 4 banger does pretty well at 200 HP. And you can't complain the 28mpg avg (33 mpg hwy) that she's gotten since getting the car.

that's exactly what's killing the 2010 MY values. You can get brand new ones for 25k pretty easily
