2011 V6 With Brembo GT Wheels

Recently bought the Brembo GT wheels to replace the stock 17" wheels (one of which is now being used as a spare wheel) on my 2011 V6.

The 255/40/19 have made a big difference in the appearance of the car, especially the rear stance.

Also, for those looking to do the same thing, when the car is on a full-lock, it appears that there is some rubbing with the arches and that's with the car not being lowered.

shouldnt have any rubbing as those are the stock tire size for the brembo rims. someone correct me if i am wrong

I agree, I'll be selling my Brembo wheels when I get the car so I can put some wider ones on.

On topic: Car looks great, not sure about the rubbing though it really shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah... strange about the rubbing. Are there possibly different alignment specs for the V6 cars? They don't look any lower...

That said, they look spectacular on your clean V6! Good choice. I think these wheels are by far the best stock wheels offered on the S197 Mustangs...and one of the best looking wheels period.

How has the handling been affected by the new rollers? You sould have quicker turn-in and more grip...possibly less compliant over bumps and uneven pavement because of the added unsprung weight.

Big improvement in handling. You can certainly throw the car into corners harder, especially with the sticky Pirelli tires. This is of course comparing wider Pirelli summer tires to thinner BF Goodrich all-season tires. According to tirerack.com the difference in price is approx. $360 v. $109! So, there should be a difference!

Those tires are great in warm temps but they are useless in temps below around 40

Just like all summer tires. But the performance of a good set of summer and winter set ups VS. just all seasons is night and day in both seasons.

Yeah...the 19" wheels aren't that common of a size so the tires are way more expensive.

It's worth it though. Im coming from the Miata world so the thought of even a 17" wheel is absurd to me (I LOVE tire shopping for 14" and 15" wheels ) but in my opinion, the 2010+ body style was built around 19" wheels. They look to be perfectly in proportion.

The factory uses different size steering stops depending on the wheels/tires installed. Since V6 some with smaller wheels they have shorter steering stops. You need to extend the steering stops when going to larger wheels to prevent rubbing.


Note: For vehicles with 16" wheels from the factory: -installing 17" x 8" wheels, use steering stop 4R3Z-3932-BA -Installing 18" x 8.5" or 18" x 9.5" wheels, use steering stop 6R3Z-3932-CA For vehicles with 17" wheels from the factory: -installing 18" x 8.5" or 18" x 9.5" wheels, use steering stop 6R3Z-3932-CA

I used to have a Peugeot 106 back in Europe with 15" and the thought of going to 17" was a big deal, let along 19"!

Our Mustangs seem to swallow big wheels.

I love those little Puegeots...small, smart looking little Euro hatches are always cool.

...and yeah, the Mustangs do indeed swallow big wheels! These modern cars have the slab-side thing going on. The Mustang hides it very well with sheet metal creases and dark grey trim but these cars are very tall and bulky.

Spoiler delete + Brembos = cleeeeean. Is it just me or does there appear to be less wheelgap on your car than there would be on a GT?

I don't drive the stang in winter but thats just me, I'm sure people out there do

Looks good!!

Am trying to replace the 19" nickel painted aluminum wheels and replace them with Brembo package rims on my GT... The dealer says I have to replace the calipers...(?!)

It appears that you used the stock calipers and rotors?

Could be due to softer springs on the V6?
