Sorry. Newbie Question
Sorry. Newbie Question
Well, I am a newbie in a few regards.
Newbie #1-My first brand new car
Newbie #2-My first V6
I have owned 6 Mustangs in the past (5 fox bodied GT's) and a 72 Mach 1. This little V6 has some potential. I love the car! So like everyone, I am trying to get some more power and performance from this baby. But what can I do to it that won't void my warranty? I got the 5 year/75K mile warranty on this thing and I definitely don't want to screw that up. I have read some posts regarding tuning, exhaust, etc. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well, any after modification could potentially void your warrenty, but they have to prove that the modification caused the failure. For example, changing out your mufflers would not have an impact on your tranny warrenty.
Stock its a 15 second car, but with a CAI/Tune and single muffler upgrade, you can run solid 14's which is respectable at the track, and you can feel the difference. Here is some CAI/tune combos that work for a lot of folks:
CAI/Tuner Combo
• Doug/Bamachips: XCAL2 and your choice of TI or C&L CAI. (When I switched to his tune for my old TI, it shaved off 3/10ths on my time, his daily driver is an auto as well, though I think he has several test mules/test customer cars at his disposal)
• Evolution: XCAL2 and C&L (lot of guys use them)
• AZDynoChip: XCAL2 and ? (don't know if they do the internet thing, they will tune any CAI and produce some of the highest dyno numbers)
• Lidio/Alternative Auto: XCAL2 and CAI (I did some research and several shops referred me to him for Automatics, his personal daily driver is an auto)
• Brenspeed: XCAL2 and C&L (another highly reputable shop)
• Justin/VMP Tuning: XCAL2 and ? (Considered one of the top dogs for the V6 stang community and collaborates with Doug on occasion to my knowledge, he’s also tested more CAI’s on the same dyno session than anyone I’ve seen so far, read about it here: http://www.v6power.net/vb/showthread.php?t=25551 )
Stick with any of the above and you will be fine.
Misc. Upgrades
-Axleback exhaust (MRT is the favourite and Scrming dyno'd it to show the highest gain, sounds kick *** in single configuration IMO, can be challenging in a dual configuration IMO but can be done)
-LSD
-Gears
-Tires/Wheels (Saleen, diversified and Casco have good deals on GT take offs, like others have said this is a good cost solution, I think diversified is the favourite around here.)
Hope this helps. Welcome to TMS.

Hey, thanks for the info. That helps a lot. I used to work on the old 5.0's, they were extremely easy to work on and get some more power. I am going to go with a dual exhaust kit and probably one of those tunes. I am not looking to go overboard while it is still under warranty, one of my main issues is takeoff. It lags a bit when you hit the gas. But again, thanks for taking the time to send the info, I appreciate it.
No problem. Throttle lag can be addressed with a tune from any of the above mentioned tuners.
