Anyone who has an 07 with heated seats, how well do they work? Mine are pitiful. I have two Explorers with heated seats and when you turn them on they really get warm, feel good, and you can tell they are working. My Mustang's seat heaters are definitely working they are just weak. The heat barely penetrates my clothes. I am trying to figure if this is a problem, or if that is just the way they are in Mustangs.

 

I have the seat heaters in my 2007 and they feel like seat "warmers". My wife's old Pontiac GTP had seats with a hi/low setting and these mustang ones feel like hers on the low setting. I think the seat heaters are too weak also, I was disappointed. I can't imagine they do much at all in really cold weather.

 

I have the heated seats and I use them about once a week. They keep me nice and toasty. But, if this is (supposedly) low, I don't want to know what high feels like. Like I said, NICE & TOASTY. The chicks haven't complained either.

 

Mine don't get very warm either. If you have on several layers of clothes you probably wouldn't even be able to feel the warmth.

 

Mine are too hot, and because there's only one setting , I can't adjust them. I have to cycle them on and off to stay comfortable. My wife's old passat had five settings for the heated seats, and her current lexus has a really nice infinitely variable control ****. I would have expected at least two settings on the 'stang if not three, but heck, they were only $250 retail.

 

I was going to buy the leather seats and the heaters but luckily I went with the cloth seats. We have leather seats in our conference rooms and I hate them. They get way too hot and sticky in an office environment. I'd hate to sit in them during the summer.

 

Hmm. I have heated seats. They work OK, but shut off after about 5 minutes. I love heated seats, but is it mormal for them to shut off on their own? All the others I've had, have hi/low and stay on till you shut them off.

 

They are supposed to shut off after 10 minutes.

With Ford, don't expect all the electronic features and gizmos to work properly, if at all for a long time. I hail from a family that has owned nothing but Fords for the past 30+ years.

They are designed to shut off when a certain temperature is reached (thermostatically controlled), or else they start making roasted human bums. The 2007 Ford Foci seem to have problems with their heated seats as well. They either don't heat properly or shut off prematurely. Before you assume the heating elements are busted, check the connectors first.

 

+1 on that! The speed sensitive windshield wipers in my 97 F-150 have never worked properly. The wipers go whenever they feel like it. Even after I had the controller replaced under warranty.

 

That would be nice if the had some type of variable control.My 07'GT has bunn warmers and work OK.My 06'Freestyle has bunn warmers and they have a two step switch control,one for the lower back and one for the bottom or you have both on at the same time,they time out after 10 minutes.
As for your heating problem the heating coil must be not the correct resistive value.I would take it to the dealership and have them check the circut for a load readng with a multi-meter.

I have the heated seats in my 07 as well. I would consider them marginally adequate. Yes, they do heat up and they do stay on for around 10 minutes. But their heat intensity is lacking. They do not get very warm and since they shut off - they never get toasty warm (as my other vehicles).

My observations are based on cool summer nights around the Chicago area. I do not intend to drive the vehicle in the winter, but the heated seats would not stand up to a typical Chicago winter as I would expect them to if this were a daily driver.

 

i don't like how they automatically shut off either.. is there a way to hack that so that they stay on?? or would it melt the seat.. lol..

 

They are adequate. They are a blast furnace compared to the heated seats in our '02 RX300 and suck compared to our '97 Lincoln Continental. Ford got the heated seats right in the Lincoln....a rotary **** from 0-5 with 5 being so hot, you can't have it there for more than a minute without getting really uncomfortable. It also allows you to select if you only want to heat the back....perfect for those sore back days that those of us in our 40's suffer from.

 

My seat warmers work but not as strong as my F150.

 

Sometimes i'll use only the seat warmer and not the heater and that is adequate in GA.

 

I drove to work with the top down this morning (a nice 59 degrees) and the seat warmer was a nice addition.

However...I agree that they are not hot enough and the shutting off after 10 minutes sucks...my 2001 Yukon has much better heated seats.

Oh well...

 

Lets see. We hit -40 with the wind chill early this morning. The heated seats put out enough heat to get my butt toasty in just a couple of minutes.

Glad to have them.
