Anyone have pics of a aftermarket exhaust with the split y-pipe? I would like to see a pic where the y-pipe bolts to the car, and a pic of the stock y-pipe.

 

Next time my car is up on a lift, I'll try and get a pic.

Id like to see that as well. I have 2 GT take-off mufflers, but I need to know where to mount the X or Y and the pipe.

 

The XPIPE will be mounted after the CATS, at the bend of pipe which curves in toward the driveline.. If you put the XPIPE at the bend, this will increase your UPPER rpm torque curve.. If you move the XPIPE further away from the bend, this will increase your UPPER RPM Horsepower...

By placing the XPIPE further toward the back of the car, this will give you more lowend torque, in the lower RPM ranges, yielding to higher RPM HP..

If you place the XPIPE closer to the front, this will move the torque BAND up from the bottom of the RPM area..

Most have chosen to place the XPIPE as far forward as possible, allowing for a mid RPM torque pull at a mid-level rpm area..

It will be nice to have someone move the XPIPE back further than normal, to see how the numbers are effected on the dyno.. The further back the XPIPE is, the hotter the exhaust gasses are.. Which has an effect on the HP of the engine..

My advice to you will be to be different than the norm.. Move the XPIPE to the center of the car, as opposed to the front portion.. This could yield you slightly better results than most with an XPIPE on the SOHC 4.0..

It is also my belief that this could possibly, slightly deepen the tone of the exhaust once it exits the rear mufflers..

Try and place the XPIPE, right in between the gas tanks if possible.. The gas tanks straddle the driveline.. This should be a good area to place it, making your results and sound slightly different, making you more special..

 

I think a Mac GT X pipe will bolt right up. The mounts on the V6 and GT look the same to me, I just need to see some V6 pics to make sure.

The Mac GT X pipe comes in 3 pieces, 2 of the pieces are to replace the cats if desired. The x pipe itself has slip joints to attach to the cat pipes or to the cat replacement pipes.

I think I can cut my y-pipe and use just the x pipe with the slip joints.

I may even be able to tweek the downpipes and remove my cats altogether.

Im ordering the left GT midpipe and a Mac X pipe to check it out. I hope to have it on later this month.

I figure a full stainless steel true dual exhaust system with x pipe for under $400.

I think I can cut the y-pipe in the right place and slip this right on. It will then connect to factory GT midpipes.

No custom welding/cutting. ... I hope.

BTW, its the 3-piece MAC offroad pipe Im looking at.

 

Ok, here are some pics.

It sure looks to me like the exhaust mounts located at the tranny crossmember are the same V6 and V8,

The downpipes from the cats look to be the same as far as how they are located in relation to the tranny and the distance between adjacent pipes.

I think the MAC X-pipe will slip right on.
