I thought I found a fix when I searched for this scenario, but I was wrong. My new car, the 2013 Roush Stage 3/Phase 3 has been intermittently stalling when the clutch is pressed or the car is in neutral. I read that you should do a throttle and idle relearn after a battery replacement, so I did that since the car has a non factory battery and I have no idea when it was installed. I also cleaned the air filter and MAF sensor. That didn't work either. The car doesn't stall all the time, but has been happening lately which may be due to the heat.

I called Roush today and they looked up my VIN and said they don't see any updates or flashes done to my car since they installed the system in 2014. I'm wondering if the problem could be tune related. The car does have the Phase 3 upgrade, which required an additional tune, but Roush has no records of what cars got the Phase 3 upgrades.

Has anybody else experienced their '13 or '14 stalling when depressing the clutch pedal? Is this a tune related issue, or something mechanical that I should check before taking it in. Any help is appreciated.

Does the manual transmissions have a neutral safety switch like the automatics? If so, could that be a possibility. I wish I could help you more. Good luck, I know how aggravating a problem like this can be.

Dirty throttlebody? My '13 would occasionally stall...cleaning the TB cured it.

I haven't cleaned the throttle body yet. Everything up to it has been done, but I haven't done that yet.

Vacuum leak? If you give it a little gas does that keep it from stalling?

Not sure if it is the throttle body? If it were, wouldn't it give you a CEL or the TB error symbol. Do you know the code that it throws when it stalls?
I'm leaning more towards tune related. I wonder if it is indeed a Roush tune?

I had a dirty TB and it would randomly stall without throwing a code. I was blaming the supercharger but finally decided to clean the TB. After that, the problem was gone.

I'll check the TB tonight. There is no CEL or code thrown.

Checked the throttle body. It looked new in there. I did wipe around the butterflies, but got very little off. I can't say that's the issue. I'm gonna continue leaning towards the tune.

The last time I had this problem, I found a small vacuum leak in a t-connector some place. I mean it was almost the size of a pin hole. It would be next to impossible to find. I had a mechanic who knew about a common problem and that was the only reason I was able to find the leak.

That's why I was thinking the same thing and asked him if it wouldn't run at all w/o giving it gas. I had the hose come unseated from the brake booster on an old car of mine and it acted the same.

I missed that Cavero. The car runs fine most of the time. The stalling is intermittent as it it doesn't stall every time the clutch is applied. Being that the vacuum is constant, I'm still leaning towards the tune, but I haven't been able to get the information Roush needs to verify the tune is correct. Unfortunately, the car is a daily driver for my son and we can't just take the PCM out and send it to Roush, however, that is something I'm considering.

But, with the lack of braking that we are also experiencing, I'm thinking it could be vacuum related. I'm hoping that one fix will address both issues. I need to get the vacuum lines smoked to see if there is a hole somewhere.

Yeah, I hated it because every time I came to a stop light, I had to put the car in neutral and start revving it the entire time and then drop it back into drive. We tried spraying it with something back then which would normally make the throttle go up, but it never did. I pulled that T-connector and sure enough, it had a very tiny hole caused by battery acid. Just the fact that it was near the battery. I guess that's why some cars have protective covers over the batteries to minimize corrosion. Look how some of the newer Volkswagen's or Audi's do it. I always wondered why they had that. Now I can see why.
