This is the first time this has ever happened to me. I was changing my wheels to my winter tires today and I cannot get the front driver's side wheel off. I removed the nuts and the wheel is like stuck to the hub, assuming from all the dirt and corrosion that have built up? I have SVE wheels on and was switching back to my stock Brembos which have Blizzaks mounted to it.

I tried getting under it a bit to kick it loose, but there is not a lot of room even jacked up and I was afraid the car might drop on me. I guess my only option is to take it to a shop and hopefully they can get it off. We are suppose to get our first snowfall tomorrow, so I'm driving with 3 Blizzaks and 1 Summer tire on, lol. Has this happened to any of you guys before?

Yes it has happened to me and yes it is most likely due to corrosion around the hub.

You just have to persuade it off of there somehow. If you can get a hammer on the back of the wheel, that will probably break it free. (use a wood block to prevent damage to the wheel). I have seen suggestions that if you loosen up the lugs a little (just maybe 1/4-1/2 turn) then drive the car a few feet and hit the brakes, that may break it loose. Or if all else fails, yeah you can take it to a shop to get it off.

Before reinstalling, clean off the corrosion and apply some grease or anti-seize to the hub so it won't happen again.

Rubber mallet to the inner side wall. Or, kick it. Even in CA mine get stuck if I try to remove the wheels after it rains/washing the car.

If you can't get a decent swing to hammer it off from behind, hammer on the outside of the wheel instead. The shock might break the rust loose, then you can pull it off.

Thanks, will try to see if I can knock it loose with a hammer. I've driven this car through three dirty and salty winters with no problems, this is the first time this has happened.

Before you put the wheel back on rub some anti-seize around that area to keep it from reoccurring

You shouldn't need a hammer-just kick the outer edge of the tire with your heel all the way around to try and loosen it. That should work fine.

^^ This. Clean off the wheel hub with a wire brush first though to get rid of all the loose scaly rust to make sure the wheel will mount nice and flush on the hub when it goes back on.

On my Mustang I've only ever had to kick around the sidewall a few times to get it loose, but on my truck the wheels were really stuck on there so I had to hit it with combination of a deadblow hammer (the plastic ones filled with steel shot) and kick it, both from the backside of the wheel.

Don't break a toe kicking it. Steel toe boots help.
