I am looking into installing the 3 stage heated and cooled seats form a Ford Taurus. I don't care for the weak heated seats we have and wanted to increase their strength. Then I noticed that the 2010-12 Ford Taurus climate controls are the same as ours. I bought the FCIM module from a Taurus to see if all the buttons would work. If they do, then that is teh first step to installing heated and cooled seats.
I got the switches to work. Not plug and play but simple enough.
The Taurus module won't fit. The upper row of buttons angles out and sits higher than in the Mustang module. So I took the Taurus and Mustang modules apart to see if I could switch out the internals into the Mustang's module. The bottom circuit board was switched and so were the heated and cooled seat buttons. Easy. Everything lights up and the heated seats still work. The middle light for the heated seats lights up when turned on. So far so good.
The next step is to get the heated cooled seat module and a blower motor and a heated seat pad to test if they are getting the correct signals and work. I suspect they will according to the wiring diagrams. I may need a Taurus HVAC module too, but not sure.
In the Mustang, the signals from the buttons is sent to the HVAC. Those signals are then sent to the PCM which then sends them to the relay box and onto the heated seats.
In the Taurus, the signals from the buttons go to the HVAC, then the PCM and then to the heated/cooled seat module and then to the seats. According to the diagrams, the signals from the buttons to the HVAC are the same as the signals from the PCM to the heated/cooled seat module, so theoretically, I could bypass the PCM? Only testing will tell.
I will have to add extra wires and pins to the harness, though.

I sincerely doubt that they are going to the pcm. It's just that all modules are on the hs-can and or ms-can. I'm pretty sure from what I learned, it's going straight from the HVAC module to the relay box.
no worries about the PCM.
That is what I figured too since the signal is not changing.
I ordered the heated/cooled seat module and a heat pad for the Taurus. When it gets here I will see if it works. Then I will get a blower motor and try that. With luck I don't need the HVAC
i've only wired aftermarket heated seat elements but had gotten an HVAC module from a heated seat mustang so that I could try to take the signal from the HVAC module directly to a relay then to the seats but would have to test to see if I get anything out of the hvac pin once i push the heated seat button on the other radio panel i have.
as for the ventilated seats, I had planned to wire them up with an on off switch similar to how my current heated seats are. I had actually planned to have the 2 way switch set only high heat (up) or ventilated seats on (down) and have it as simple as that lol.
i Bypassed the seat harness when I installled 15 seats In my 11. I have the power working but haven’t got to the heating cooling part I was just going to install two way rocker switches but your idea Might work for me thank you
Interesting. I should have paid a little more attention to the wiring diagrams. The cooled seats do not use heated seat mats like in our cars. The heat comes from the blower motors blowing air through a heating element.
I don't like the idea of complicating the heated seat. Hmm. I already knew I would have to add air channels in the seat cushions, but I thought it was in conjunction with the heated mats.
I got the 15 seats installed in mine. It wasnt hard. you have to knock the pin out of the rear portion of the seat mounting bracket and make a 90 degree tab and weld it to the bottom of the seat track. As for the wiring i took the box out from under the seats and wiring directly to the seat wiring and it worked. I am working on the heating and cooling. so if you need the seat modules I have them if needed.
