HMMM! 5.0 2018 Lexus LC Engine=Ford 5.0 Copy?

Does anyone think this is a blatant copy of Fords 5.0? https://www.lexus.com/models/LC/specifications

There is far too little information in there to draw any conclusions. Even so it is highly unlikely that they "copied" an engine design, much more likely they bought designs from Ford.

Why, because they are both 5 liter V8s?

The Lexus motor has different bore, stroke and compression ratio, so really not that similar at all. Plus the fuel delivery system is completely different as it appears to use a hybrid direct/port injection system with two injectors per cylinder. It's also been around since about 2008, as far as I can see.

Toyota had variable valve timing on their engines long before Ford did.
Also, remember that Toyota had a V8 in the 1989 Lexus LS400, an ultra smooth engine with tons of power for the time.
Toyota is a huge engineering company, I doubt they need to copy a Ford design for their $100k flagship model

That motor came out in the 2008 IS F. The coyote came out in 2011. If anything, Ford copied Toyota. Especially since the new coyote has dual injection just like this motor has had.

As others have said, the displacement is the same (5 liters), # of cylinders is the same (V-8), and both have variable valve timing. The similarities end there. And, as others have also said, Toyota (Lexus) had this engine first, before the launch of Ford's Coyote.

Plus...look at the great brakes on the Lexus!!!:
Six-piston monoblock aluminum calipers with 15.7-in two-piece ventilated discs (front). Four-piston monoblock aluminum calipers with 14.1-in two-piece ventilated discs (rear).
Good stuff there.
