skip skip skip
My 05 is the first vehicle in a long time with a CD player. So I was quite surprised to learnt that ALL my CDs were apparently damaged and skipped like hell. lol That is until I read the posts about that very subject here. Can the player itself be cleaned? If this is an optional fix(?) , do I need to clean each slot? Is there a laser for each position? Thanks

Or maybe a can of air you use to clean you computer key board would work.

There’s no permanent fix for that. Cheap quality as what another poster mentioned that’s why they call them the “Skipper 500/1000”. Bought my 2005 GT brand new and stopped playing CDs on mine about 5 years later after I started noticed the skipping to happen. Tried a cleaner to no avail. Doesn’t bother me much because I don’t listen to the radio anymore (utterly hate radio commercials with a passion) and just keep it off.
Only option is to replace it with an aftermarket of better quality, or you can go to a salvage yard and get a used one, but then you'll have the same skipping problems occur with continued use.

Thanks all. I'll try cleaning it again. Not gonna hold my breath though. Any suggestions for a decent aftermarket CD player? I've always just kept the stock radios in my car.

There was a TSB for skipping CD players. Yours may not have been changed out by the previous owner. Of course TSB's are only free while under warranty as far as I know.

I have a Sony CD changer and an Audiovox CD changer somewhere hidden in my house. Haven't seen them in more than 10 years.
Good luck.
