My 65 coupe six...yes 6, runs great but is getting hot in this 100 degree Texas heat and it wants to die...hesitate...search for an idle speed and in general is vaporlocking! I have installed a 160 thermostat, rerouted the fuel line, eliminated the water line under the 1 bbl carb, rebuilt and adjusted the carb to shop manual specs, installed a "heat shield" under the carb and tuned it so good it runs WAY over a 100...don't ask how I know! I am a retired ASE certified engine mechanic with 40+ years building street rods/drag racers. Is the modern fuel THAT bad on old carbs? It definitely works better but it is my wife's driver and she hates restarting it in traffic. A bigger fan is next as it only does this when extra hot...which happens in Texas!
