Better than nothing. Sometimes I just says screw it, and wash it anyways.

The pic I didn't get - which would have been great - is by the time I got around the west side (that'd be the right side in this pic for the GPS/non-compass generation ) the sunset had pink and purple hues on just the upper fourth of the snow. As you drive on the SW side there's a big cinder cone called Black Butte that briefly blocks the view.
As I came around it, and Mt. Shasta reappeared, the Thursday (almost full) moon was big and bright just above the horizon just to the right of the mountain. Would have been an awesome shot but my little camera doesn't take great moon pics (like Treadhead Jimmy takes!).

That would be a very cool shot! Your mountain shots are cool! Can you bring one down here so I can get a cool shot too?
Thanks for that compliment too.

About an hour north of Wichita Falls, on the northern border of Fort Sill is a place called the Wichita Mountains in Oklahoma. It's not REALLY mountains, but it's a good place to get some good outdoors shots. Much more interesting than anything you're going to find in the DFW area.

And if you're there at the right time you can hear and sometimes see the artillery practice at Fort Sill. The Wichita Mountains overlook the artillery range.

And here's a video of the house down the street. They had holographic projectors in every window and would randomly project 3D ghosts and scary faces in them.

There are about 20 houses in our neighborhood that go all out with decorations every year. Graveyards in the front lawn, smoke machines, costumed actors, these people just really go the extra mile for the kids. It's a ton of fun, and probably why we have hundreds of kids every year.

We gave out 7lbs of candy last night, and it was a slow night compared to Halloweens that fall on Friday or Saturday nights.

Thanks for the suggestion. You can keep the artillery though. I had enough of those guys at the range in Grafenwoehr Germany! I think their guns were turned the wrong direction. We thought for sure our tents were going to fall over!

You don't really see that view often unless you're on the outskirts of town. I'm just tired of all the buildings and road construction. It's nice driving out towards Austin or San Antonio because you see hills and wide open fields

If you wanted to get really silly technical about it you would only see that view along the northeast and southwestern edges of the city along the coast. North is pine forest and west runs into the hill country as you get close to Austin or San Antonio.

I'm a 7th generation Native Texan BTW. My in-laws live in Katy and my younger brother-in-law is a Houston cop. I know the area.

For you, I would recommend taking a weekend trip to Arkansas sometime. Take the Mustang, I think you would love it.

Take a 3 day weekend there. 6-7 hour drive, 2 nights at a hotel, spend the weekend enjoying the sights. Everyone needs to get out of Texas once in a while and see what the rest of the country has to offer.
