I changed transmission fluid around 30 - 40,000 miles. I had to replace the alternator at 178,900 and the thermostat housing at 199,880.

Bro, There is no way you had 200,000 miles on that car. Lol .I'm gonna call you liar, liar. Lol! Bro that is the cleanest car I have seen. Holy cow, Did you clean that every day? Are you a professional detailer or body man. Bro, that car looked like it just came into the car showroom floor. Matter of fact, the showroom cars don't look that good. What year was that? I'm blown away that a car with 200,000 miles looked like that.

Aww you caught me LOL. I had it detailed twice a year and used Mother's wax on it in between. What you can't see are the stone chips on the front bumper, lot of highway miles beat it up some. The hood was new in the month before I sold it. The old one had the bubbling on the edges and under the Roush scoop so I figured I had to finish the Foose hood and Shaker scoop setup to sell it anyway. The Shaker was attached to the hood so it didn't trap heat on too of the Xcharger with the hood open.

hrm?

I didn't think it was all that remarkable. Lots of SN95 GTs go 200K+
T-45 trans does show its age now and then.

My last three police cars were Crown Vic PIs, first was a '98, last one I still was driving when retired in 2010. First two went well over 120,000 hard working Trooper miles with no engine / transmission / drivetrain problems whatsoever, and my last car, a 2006 CVPI had 86,000 when I retired and was reissued to the Trooper who transferred into my slot as he wrecked his car just before then ....
.... and he drove that 2006 CVPI to 162,000 miles when they issued him a new 2012 and "Old Faithful" went to auction. It, like the other two CVPIs over the last 12 years of my career had no engine / drivetrain problems except for the leaking rt rear axle seal discovered the day I drove the '06 home from Richmond brand new, I guess it got knicked when built. One alternator in one of the cars and I think it was the '98 that got a new power brake booster.

I know, "NOT" Mustangs .... but they were 4.6s and 4R70Ws and 8.8s in heavier cars with full trunks of gear driven under often brutal conditions, rain, snow, ice, summer heat, hours idling .... make that hours upon hours idling, followed by WOT runs from 0-120-130 and sometimes for many miles, depending on need or call. In a 8 hour shift with no court, a man on the interstate might write 15-20 summons, patrol a couple hundred miles, check on a few disabled vehicles, work a wreck or two, dog it WOT through the ranges a couple dozen times or more, answer a couple emergency calls, idle the rest of the time, and eat a lunch.

Many ex-police cars see thousands or hundreds of thousands more miles as low price personal vehicles, or in municipal, delivery, or taxi service. Proper maintenance with quality products is the key.

207+ miles on mine. 3.7L, Auto
Mostly driving from Houston to Arkansas.

Want to know what breaks?
Suspension. I've had all the struts and shocks replaced. The rear sway bar end links (I went with BMR), I also replaced the lower control arms just to be safe.
Freaking O2 sensors. That may be more my environment than the car. I noticed the problem after getting gas at a local station. The station said they cleaned their tanks after hurricane Harvey. I don't go there, haven't had the problem since.
It's a convertible so, there's that. It's on the list to replace.

What to know how to get 200+ miles?
Regular maintenance. Oil changes every 3 to 5000 miles. I don't drive like a maniac.

The worst part about 200+; the paint. Road chips have taken a toll on her nose and hood. Other than that, she still looks good for 200K.

cool, thanks for posting! nothing unusual in your maintenance list, those are generally considered "wear" items, so it's all good!

2007 4.0 v6 with 210k miles, no major repairs since bought and no major issues, just a whining noise while accelerating

2001 3.8 V6, 5 speed manual approx. 450,000 miles. I bought the car used with 115,000 miles on the odometer. The previous owner [s ] had changed the 3.27 rear end for a 3.73, but didn't change the gear ratio in the computer. I have no way of knowing when the change was made so all I know for sure is that the actual mileage was less than that shown. At the time I wasn't sure I was going to keep the car for a long time so I disconnected the odometer/speedometer at the transmission and drove it like that for roughly two years or 40,000 miles. About that time the 3.73 started making noise so I replaced the rear end with a correct 3.27 from a junk yard and reconnected the odometer. With around 235,000 miles on the odometer or at least 250,000 actual miles the # 6 cylinder was low on compression and the 5 th. gear sychro was bad in the transmission so I replaced the engine and transmission with used ones from LKQ with just over 50,000 miles on them. Presently I have 410,000 miles [ 450,000 actual ] on the car. I have a slight rear main seal leak and 2nd. gear sychro is bad. The engine uses just over 1/2 qt. of oil between 4,000 mile changes. I have replaced the alternator, water pump, clutch, and radiator. The starter is original as is the AC compressor [ AC still blows cold air.]. Brake service and tires are pretty much it. Pretty good service all things considered. I bought my '14 GT new and it just turned 79,000 miles. So far the only problem has been the CD player in the stereo. It suddenly quit working about a year ago. I think I probably do a little better job of servicing my cars than most, but nothing extreme.

It uses a quart about every 1400 miles. Still runs good, gets decent mileage. But I keep it up and don't drive it real hard, I'm old.. every once in a while I'll put my leg in it little bit...just replaced the ignition coils and an alternator. Had to put an intake (plastic p.o.s.) on it about 2 years ago.couple of the O2 sensors.Wasn't that big of a deal. I did it myself. But it's been a good car.it's dependable. Goes up for sale this week,I've had my fun. Some kid will see it,money be burning a hole in his pocket!! I noticed earlier today, just turned 257,000., The only weak spot I've ever found with that motor is that plastic intake. other than that,it's a good motor. It's only 281 cu.in. I'm going to go lay scratch right now.....

'04 gt257,000 and counting

Just turned 257 today. Uses a quart about every 1400 miles. That's fine, I can live with that. I've had to do the usual stuff, plastic POS intake, ignition coils, couple O2's,,alternator, clutch 10,000 back. But it's good dependable car. I do the work on it myself and I keep it up don't drive it hard.....usually..... I'm old,65. I'm sure this car, if it's not beat up, will make it well over 300,000. I'm putting it up for sale this week. I've had my fun. I'm going to go to lay some scratch right now......

I have a 2000 ford mustang nothing fancy but it's a work in progress guy before me was a young kid and didn't actually realize what he had and it's got 214,000 miles on her had 212,000 when i bought it from him i only gave $1500 for it and only issue I've ever had is the alternator **** the bed on my trip back to west Texas with it for work. But other than that she gets regular oil changes (full synthetic high mileage Castrol) doesn't over heat at all. Overall she's a great car.

Any ideas for a good color for my rims and need a color for the interior as well any ideas would greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Before i started doing anything to her besides paint i painted her a gun metal gray because when i got her she had like 4 different shades of red and that **** was ugly wish i could find pictures when i first bought her.

Still the same lol

Still the same she's not the prettiest but she's mine and does me good

Still the same she's not the prettiest but she's mine and does me good

Added side badges and the black stripes added some lights on the inside and put new air filter on her obviously can't see the air filter lol

Added the racing vinyl on my windshield that's it for now trying to find a good color to paint my wheels that'll go good with the color of my car.

I had about 203K on the '06 Mustang GT when we bought the 2015. Engine still ran well, and the manual gearbox still had the original clutch.

I was starting to hear the timing chain rattle common with the high mileage 4.6 engines at cold startup. I knew what that front-end rebuild would cost, so decided to put that money in a newer Mustang instead.

Bought the '06 new in September '05, and she was a great ride.

My 2000 Ford Mustang Base Model V6 Manual transmission has 304,652 miles on it. It starts up like a boss every day, and accelerates like it was brand new. Never had a car that runs this good in my life except for this one.
