Build-a-BOSS project

Our build is "almost" complete. We are going to swtich out coil-overs and install the BOSS e-brake, and she is done.......
We built my son's first car together ('65 restomod) that he drove for 4 yrs through HS. When he graduated, it was not practical for the '65 to go to school with him, so him earning his college education with both an athletic & academic scholarships, we were able to buy another Mustang for him to take. Got a deal on '13 SGM Base model GT with the Track Pack. We began in earnest modding it out. I happened on a '13 BOSS that was totaled and was able to buy a good deal of parts. This got me searching for salvaged BOSS's and I found two more, a '12 & another '13.
I ended up getting : Front & Back Recaro seats, Dash panels, Steering Wheel, Door panels, e-brake, all for the interior. The engine parts I picked up: Intake Manifold, alternator, oil cooler, trans cooler. Already included with the Track Pack was the BOSS Radiator and Brembo Brakes.
We added aftermarket suspension, Eibach Coilovers, 1pc Aluminum DS, MGW Shifter, Ford Racing Coil Covers, JLT CAI, BBK 90mm TB, Lethal Off Road X Pipe>3"over axle pipes>GT500 Quads. MPT 93 performance tune to make it breath and roar.
We replaced most everything we could with TruCarbon carbon fiber that matches and blends with the SGM color. Inside and outside and in the engine bay. It is something that my son and I really enjoy doing together. Working on the cars together, we argue and struggle, but for some odd reason, we love doing it. To top everything off, on this Forum, I followed a thread about installing the LCD Clusters and hoped that some way it could be done installing a BOSS LCD Track Apps cluster in our base model GT. The guys figured it out and I rode their coat tails and was able to install a 2013 BOSS LCD Track Apps cluster that is fully operational. The only thing we have planned to do in the future is possibly switch the coilovers. Proud of how everything came together on this build and what the car is. Here are pics of our Build-a-BOSS:

Nice! I'd love to do the exact same thing to my SGM base model. Except mine is an automatic.

can you adopt me? I'll be 42 next month.

Fantastic story and car. My son is only 5, so, soon enough :)

Nice looking ride brother!

I just noticed, or at least the picture looks like you're running 255's in the back. If that's true you are going to need much more rubber. Kinda wish this is what I did instead of buy a Boss.

Beautiful car. Great job.

I don't even mind the Boss stripes on a non Boss car. This looks amazing! If only you could've swapped the actual Boss engine over...then it would be 10/10. Now it's 9.5/10

Fantastic story, beautiful car and an amazing father/son relationship...sounds like your son worked hard for those scholarships and you worked hard to give him what he deserves! Congrats to you both.

Thanks for the comments. Hear all sorts of chatter from people about fake Boss and the stripes and so on and so on. We never have or will claim this IS A BOSS. It is not a even a "fake" Boss, as I would put this car up against a LOT of "real" Boss's. It is what it is, a GT Track Pack car that we have modded out with a LOT of OEM Boss parts. With the entire interior, motor and all badging being Boss 302, it would look more awkward to have left some 5.0 badging on it. If I bought a Boss, I wouldnt mod it out like we did this car, hence why we went this route. Gives us some more time in the garage together and makes him appreciate it that much more. He works is arse off on this car, so he takes a LOT more pride in it and taking care of it.
TIRES:
In most of the photos, the car had the stock Pirelli P Zero's 255/40/19 on it. It now has Michelin Pilot Super Sports 285/40/19 on the back and 275/40/19 front. The very first pic on the grass is with the PSS tires. the parking garage pics have the stock Pirelli's on it. The PSS tires have some BITE when compared to the stock PZeros. Here is a pic to show how much more the PSS tires fill the wheel wells:

i agree, if i had a limited edition, id have a hard time changing anything about it.

no shame in modding a base model to be everything you want.

i have a bullitt mustang which is a limited edition car and i dont wanna change anything that would make it any less a bullitt lol.

OP, fantastic looking car! Job well done.

I have a 2014 300A TP as well, and I've also been very curious to install a 401a or boss cluster. What did you have to do to make it work? How complicated was it?

That, price and the lack of some options is what settled me on the GT. I couldn't see paying the extra for the Boss that didn't have the options I wanted for a daily driver that I was going to mod the heck out of...so I'm adding Boss parts, lol.
