Recently this car owned by none other than champion Formula Drift driver Vaughn Gitton Jr went across the block at Barrett-Jackson for auction. See all about the RTR-C Ford Mustang inside.

Clearly, no expense was spared and the price for the RTR-C reflects that. The steroid infused Mustang sold at Barrett-Jackson’s Northeast auction without a reserve for $75,9000. For the full RTR package, including the carbon fiber body panels, the price tag will run to the tune of $135,000

Based on the 2010 Mustang, the RTR is a new generation of the turn-key car that was available in Ford dealerships all over the world. This car is a hand-built one of one RTR-C that was a halo car to launch the RTR brand for Vaughn Gittin Jr. Every inch of the exterior was ripped away and replaced with top-shelf carbon fiber to keep things as light as possible. As a matter of fact, the C in the RTR-C stands for carbon fiber. That weight reduction alone amounted to 500 pounds being taken away from the curb weight of the special Mustang. The car was built in the same shop that where Gittin’s race cars were engineered and maintained.

The high-quality carbon fiber parts for the RTR-C were molded from Gittin’s championship winning drift Mustang so you know that performance was a key bullet point in the build. Ford was so enamored with keeping things as light as a space shuttle that the HRE wheel loops are even made of carbon fiber. The inspiration for the quality of the workmanship stemmed from the Pagani Zonda. More specifically the attention of the detail in which they laid the carbon whereas the weave travels across the entire car where possible.

The RTR-C has a Ford Racing supercharger on the 4.6-liter V8 to help the car to push out a tire smoking 550 horsepower for hooning about. Other items on the mod list look like a dream build sheet for any tuner with a magical blank check to blow through money with. Some of those aforementioned parts are the Ford Racing 3.73 gears bolted to a Torsen limited-slip differential, a K&N air filter, oil filter, 1 3/4 inch American Racing headers with a 3-ninch X-pipe, and Ford Racing mufflers. Ford Racing front and rear anti-sway bars, Autosport Dynamics rear control arms, an Autosport Dynamics Panhard link, and bigger brakes.

On the interior, there is a cabin mounted button for an adjustable suspension that was developed and put in for better ride quality on and off the track. The sweet seats in the car are Sparco brand with RTR-C edition with monogrammed headrests, harness and harness bar, leather upholstered rear sear deleted RTR-C backlit door sill plates.

500 lbs is some serious weight reduction.

I just got that mustang and wanted to wrap it like gittin's as I was going to use it as a drift setup (got tired of the rx7) but was too lazy to do the decals myself.
