1978 Mustang II/King Cobra, 1978 Mustang II - Cobra II & Occasionally a 1974 Trans Am
I finally was able to get my 2 Mustang II's together for some photos. I also had my brothers restored 1974 Trans Am too, so it is in a couple of shots too.
The Red 1978 King Cobra is a survivor car. All original except tires. Paint & graphics are original and the car only has 40k miles on the odometer.
The White 1978 Cobra II is dressed like a 1976 and has a built 1972 302 with 1967 289 heads. It also has an edlebrock manifold with a Holley 4bbl, Hedman headers, a mild racing cam, and a custom made side exit dual exhaust. Shes pushing around 250-300 hp, so shes over any Mustang II stigmas. Farrah would definetely mess her hair up in this one!!

wow, that's amazing! I don't think i have personally ever seen one of those types/year in person. Of course my '13 is the first mustang i have ever owned but you can still see the sides/doors with the scoop. Beautiful machines.
I owned a 78 and 81 trans am when I was a kid. They were classics when i owned them, and i still miss those.

Thanks! They are nimble little cars and a lot of fun to drive. Of course my 2014 will kill them in every way, but at the car shows, these little II's certainly take the show.

It is great to see those II's. If Ford hadn't built those little critters during the dark days of the 70's, we might not have Mustangs today. Ford could have just as easily killed the Mustang after the gasoline crisis of '73.
So I say don't mock them for their lower level of performance. That was just the Mustang's way of flying below the radar, until the great days of muscle arrived again!

Yes, his T/A is pretty sweet...just went through a 4 month restoration. Looks great at the shows parked with my 1973 Mach 1. We also team it up with the King Cobra since they are both red with big graphics on the hood.
I just got a new interior for the Cobra II from a 1976 Mustang that was in storage since 1980. All white, but perfect condition, so I will take some new shots as soon as it all arrives & I get it installed

New Interior on the Cobra II
I finally got some new seats for the Cobra II. The previous ones were dyed and really looked bad. I found a complete set of seats and door panels, haven't installed those yet, from a 1974 Mustang II Ghia. They had been removed from that car in 1980 and put into storage all these years. They are in incredible condition!!

Custom Blue LED
I decided to add some flash for the car shows. So I hid some blue LED lighting strips above the aluminum dash panels. Completely out of site, but I think they add a really cool lighting effect at night.

A Man Just Needs Some....
Those II's are great to see. Kinda like a Down syndrome kid. No the poor kid is jacked up but you gotta love them and they always bring a smile to my face.
