Yes prayers to all absolutely horrible! Now they're going to release two dams on top of what they already have!

Staying in Amarillo at the Holiday in Express for the night then back home in the morning. There are FEMA and government vehicles outside. Many bus / motor homes also.
We are on our way back from Phoenix.

Went home after 5 days knowing my power still wasn't on. Spent the night and cleaned out the refrigerator and freezer and cleaned a little outside. Wife decided it was too **** hot so we left again for a couple of days. No power for me means no water at all. I was having to borrow water from people in town to flush the toilets. Even with a generator I can't feed my well without rigging something up makeshift so no thanks. A lot of my neighbors have generators running RV's or campers in their driveways.

Still not as bad as Houston though. Not complaining at all just letting y'all know what's up. Got a Katrina rate, I mean Harvey rate at the hotel and the city of San Antonio has graciously exempted the usual hotel tax for us evacuees.

^^ Our hearts and prayer are with all of you in the path of Harvey. A few years ago you guys were dry as a bone, and now SE Texas is more like the LA Bayou. I feel very fortunate for the good weather we have been having lately, hope it heads your way soon.

After almost exactly 7 days to the hour we are home for good.
So when we left last Thursday night we took some refrigerator food with us in an ice chest with ice in case power went out where we were going. Then when we came home day before yesterday we brought it back with us. Then when we left yesterday my wife was like I'm not letting that food go bad and we took it with us. So when we finally heard our power was on we packed it all up and came home again.
So I'm left with a package of Swiss cheese slices, two packs of beef hot dog weenies, and some unopened turkey and ham lunch meat that has traveled at least 800 miles with us around Texas lol
But it's still good! My wife saved it. Refused to ever let me get rid of it. Now mind you it did spend time in a refrigerator at our daughters from Thursday till Tuesday. But if I saved one thing it was some freaking lunch meat.

Good to hear you're home Gary. I hope you guys didn't get hid too hard. Honestly I really don't know what to say in this situation - I'm just glad you and your family are safe!

I am completely fine. I am blessed and lucky or both but I've merely been inconvenienced. Nothing and I mean nothing like thousands and tens of thousands went through and are going through.
Please none of you give me a second though in this. Think of all the others especially in and around Houston because they were the ones really hit, all I did was lose the 21rst and 20th century for 6.9 days and even then I escaped to comfort elsewhere. I am blessed. Blessed to have the means, the ability, and the foresight to know what to do and when to do it. Not saying the people in Houston didn't have that but they had one thing against them. They live in a place that when 5 million people need to leave it's already too late to get out.

I feel for all you guys out there man. Been through these things way too many times. So far I've been very fortunate also through the storms and floods. Lots of people around me were not so fortunate. Gonna be a rough recovery in Texas for a while. Glad you made out ok. Don't waste that lunchmeat. It's come a long way. Lol

Rockport where I went to school from 7th to 9th grade has shut down the entire school district for the year. All grades all schools so destroyed they are throwing in the towel and telling the kids they should enroll elsewhere. Pretty sure this is a 4A school which would mean the high school alone would have about 800 students. Not to mention teachers and janitors and holy crap that just seems crazy to me.
