I'd like to have a sport, but they are more money than I want to spend for a vehicle that will be used the way I will use it. I'd have to wait a couple more years for a used one to get down to what I'm willing to spend. I'm not buying any more new cars, I'm done with that. I bought 3 new Mustangs in 4 years, I'm over it.

About 30K is my cap for what I'm willing to give for something to replace one of these Explorers (and that is the high end of what I'd like to spend). I've had Explorers for almost 20 years and they've all been bought used and I've driven the wheels off of all of them. I'd have to figure it up, but I know I've put around 750,000 miles combined on the ones I've had and the most I've ever given for one was the 5.0 Limited I have now and that was $13K and it had 46K miles on it when I bought it. Its at 200K now.

For you outdoor types, check out Lewis & Clark's Expedition supplies. And I thought I packed a lot with 80# in my JanSport D2 pack.

Wow Charlie! You look like you are going to through hike the PCT without any resupply. I realize that was long before freeze dry meals and ultra light gear.

You must have been a badarse to carry an 80# pack. I've never been able to do more than about 40, especially on long outings like 6-8 hikes.

Should have bought a GT500 with a Tremec and you wouldn't have to worry about a better shifter for the Chinese Getrag.

Yup, you should have. Not like you had to settle for less considering you are a future baller like Gary. Its not like you waste your money on girls and a piece of trim every weekend.

Lol what? I would've still changed it. I had an MGW on my T-56 in my last car.

And holy shytballs. That new rubber shift boot. I didn't get the revised version that uses the factory boot. That fricken boot made me want to throw in the towel, but I was so close to finishing. It took my about 5 hours total, mainly because I didn't have all the exact tools I needed and had to improvise a bit. Also the shift boot and aligning the shaft so that the **** was straight took an extra half hour each, so a total of 4 hours maybe? That's the usual going rate for an MT-82 MGW install....

That sounds like a huge waste of time. Someone could fiddle with my **** and shaft for about 6 minutes and we would both be finished.

Back in the day, even 15-20 years ago, paying cash for a car was a good thing. Dealers would fall over themselves during negotiations when you said you were paying cash. Now its a bad thing that they don't want any part of, they want to steer you towards financing. And people these days fall right into that trap and the dealer loves it, quoting you and getting you to sign a contract for a percent or two over what they can get the financing for and they get to keep that portion for themselves. Of course most people today finance cars and never even pay attention to what they are giving up, they only look at the payment. That's why the dealers use their 4 square sheets and **** and talk in terms of monthly payments instead of what the car actually costs. Sounds a lot better to talk about 400 a month than 35,000 for a 22,000 dollar car. And people are on the same wavelength, what is it going to cost me a month, ****ing morons don't look at the long term picture.

Not that I begrudge them, I'd do the same thing too for some extra money, but it pisses me off that you can't buy a car for cash these days without getting the stink eye, a jacked up price, and a ****ty attitude when they find out you have the money to buy it right then.

Depends on where you go. Every dealer around here is how you describe. That's why I went to Brian's dealership.
