Before we did the Vanishing Point part of our recent trip, we drove the Durango to Silverton to Ouray, Colorado route called the San Juan Skyway National Scenic Byway and the Million Dollar Highway in one section. The views were spectacular, and no guard rails in areas are pretty cool to see. Not a road to do at night, that's for sure. The heavy snowfall this past winter really enhanced the scenery. The famous Durango Silverton railroad came into Silverton at around lunch time so we got to see that as well. Very high elevations here approaching 10,000'. Remnants of old gold mines dot the landscape too.
No guard rails in some areas Non working gold mine area Cool reflections on side of R/T Silverton, CO down below Famous Railroad Tall waterfall from the snow melt Snow capped mountains at 10,000' + levels. We liked being on the inside lane
I Appreciate Your Threads! Makes Me Want to Get Out & Go Somewhere! Just Put my 7th or 8th Battery in the Shelby at 34k Miles! Back in the day My FORD Battery Supplier took Care of Me! Sucks To Be a Civilian and Have to Pay For Batteries!
Thanks for the kind words. I hope you get to travel too, especially in a cool car like the Shelby. While still far away, you are a lot closer to some of these locales than we are. Nothing like the western states for trips I'll add more segments in the future.
Yeah, the batteries don't last too long on sitting cars. I thought my R/T's original battery was toast before we left but it charged up real well on this trip and seems 'like new' again. I figured i was going to replace it along the way but gave it a shot.
Once again the road less traveled. No one but you, and your bestie. We just returned from our road trip also. Did it the truck as I knew I would want to get on the dirt/back roads. This was taken in the South Dakota Badlands. The tunnel was so narrow I had to close the side view mirror to get trough. There was no one but us, the Buffalos, and..................

Hmmmm. That place looks familiar. Our 2019 trip. You guys look great!!!
Thanks for the photos and memories. I have done the Million Dollar Highway several time but never in a car.....always on a motorcycle. Migrating to a convertible due to age related riding issues. Look forward to retracing life's adventures in my newly acquired vert. You have inspired me..... Jim
