First road trip with the 06 GT
First road trip with the 06 GT
My wife and I are on a little get away weekender to Sanibel island in Ft Myers Florida. We live in Brooksville Florida so it's about a 3+ hour trip from our home. We are really enjoying the car with the top down and how nice the car is to drive. We were going to take the S2000 but decided on the Mustang would be more comfortable
We were able to see 23 MPG on the drive down doing 70 to 80 MPH
More pics to come

Good deal on the mileage. My '14 GT is a little over 2 months old, and I'm itching to take a longer road trip. Most of my driving is local, with occasional shorter jaunts on the highways and I just broke 16 mpg overall average.
Btw, I like the Honda S2000....very neat looking cars.

Your doing great lol our 06 gets about 12.5 to 13 MPG around town with my wife driving
I have to laugh about it, I did not buy the car with economy in mind
Sunset at the Mad Hatter restraint,

Good "starter" road trip .....
Now, take some "not interstate" highways, drop her back to 55-60, absorb more of the surroundings, and she'll do better than 23 by a bunch!
And "PuddyDa" has a lovely "PuddyMama" .....

Just the factory tune and no performance mods, she all stock
we just got back from a 5800 mile trek out west with 4 kids in my 06 gt and the wifes 07 pony... surprisingly, MPG was pretty close, my best was 26, mostly 24, hers was 25-28.
these cars are surprisingly comfortable highway cruisers. I did a 6000 mile trip in a 85 camaro long ago, that thing rode like a skateboard- and the mustang rear seats still fit a good sized teenager without banging heads on the roof... i rode in back for a few hours, let the kids drive, was shocked how comfortable the seats were- i couldnt even sit in our camaros back seats, and i was a lot slimmer then
each car burned a quart of oil going out, but none coming home- thought that was odd, but they didnt miss a beat. funny, at high altitude, think the wifes car had more torque than mine- the 4.6 really turned into a slouch at 10000 feet on the mountain roads...
I agree with tbear- take some non interstate along the way... we went into colorado on the old 2 lane that used to be I70, the old wood welcome to colorado sign still there...remember seeing that when i was 13 for the first time...
take time/make memories
heres my favorite car pic from the trip-

Great pic
we both love that dark blue color, it was what we wanted but this silver car came up and at a great deal. I have to agree, it is a very nice road car. My S2000 handles much better as a sports car but the Mustang is much more roomy and comfortable for a long trip.

Road trips in convertibles are the best remedy for escaping everyday life. You get to enjoy it all year round in FL, even though the summers can be brutal.

We are back home
almost 500 miles round trip and a great relaxing weekend away. Peaked out at 20.8 MPG on the way back home with staying around 70 to 78 MPH, not sure why I did not do as well on the way back as I did going down.

A few years ago we took my fiancée's 07 GT on a vacation trip from the Springfield MO. area to the San Antonio TX area. We were out there for a week. I don't remember how many miles we put on that trip but I think it was over 2,000 miles. Her car consistently gets around 24 mpg.
We just got back from a vacation where we didn't go very far and only put about 300 miles on the car. Car only has about 16,500 miles on it.

I average 20.9MPG right now (11.2L/100km)
Between some 80km zones to work and bombing around town.
I know I get lower than that if I take a trip on the highway.
Down into the 10s for L/100.
