Day Trip to Highlands NC
It was our 49th Valentines Day together so we travelled up to Highlands NC which is a 'well to do' town that has fine restaurants and shopping. Most homes start at $1,000,000 to give you an idea. Getting to Highlands requires travelling on a twisty road to get up to that 4,000' high level. We took the '14 GT and had a really nice day with lunch at Madison's in the Old Edwards Inn and looking around the stores.
In photo #1 you used to be able to drive behind this waterfall, called Bridal Veil, but too many rockslides finally required the road to be closed. This was as close as we could get. I'll write a little under each photo to describe it. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/themust...2280a3832b.jpg This was as close as we could get to the waterfall. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/themust...2e7b0bb8f5.jpg Narrow twisty road to Highlands with close by rock walls. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/themust...278474b9df.jpg My wife in front of the pricey Madison's restaurant. $106 bill with no alcohol. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/themust...ca49c43780.jpg Charcuterie Plate to split for an appetizer. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/themust...4e471a1938.jpg Unique style Pulled Pork sandwich with Sweet Onion soup. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/themust...a11d00458e.jpg Take home dessert of Coconut cake. |
