When we take our Mustang trip to New England later this summer my wife wants to go to Knoebels Park as she really enjoys the old amusement parks and roller coasters. Not my thing to do the rides but I enjoy her having a good time at these spots along our travels. We'll be staying at the Hampton in Pine Grove, PA which is about an hour away from the park I believe.
Any tips or warnings or info you PA guys can share would be appreciated. We'll be arriving late in Pine Grove the first night and allowing a full day at the park on Day 2 before heading back to the motel. After that we are off again to Mystic CT and other spots in New England.

 

Unfortunately, I'm located on the opposite side of PA...Therefore, I'm not familiar with Knoebels Park

 

Absolutely worth the visit and it won't break your wallet. Watching the water plume soak unsuspecting victims is worth it right there. The park encourages families and provides ample tables for you to bring your own lunches. The gondola ride is a lot of fun. Never had a bad experience there ever!

I’ve only been once, but the food there was one of my favorite parts! We had a group of us that went camping there which was nice because they had a shuttle we didn’t have to worry about parking. I also really liked that you only pay or the rides you go on, you don’t have to buy a day pass.

 

And they're not price gouging either!

^^^ Yup, I'll hopefully be posting photos there if we survive getting through NY coming and going. No way to avoid it. We usually take the Tappan Zee bridge to scoot through. Lord knows what the toll charge is now.

 

I like to follow-up for those that assisted. We were rained out on the way up but caught the park on our way home. It get's top marks from the both of us. The parking lot already had hundreds of cars in it when we arrived 1 hour earlier than the park opened. We knew that was a good sign.
The free parking and no admission was like stepping back in time, and the entire park experience felt like I returned to the 1960's. That old time charm was evident and we both were amazed that the park owners could accomplish this. From the old carousel to the wooden roller coasters, the rides were kept alive for all the young generation to enjoy. The prices were very reasonable to us at around $4 per person for whatever ride you wanted. My wife rode all the coasters and I limited myself to the mountain chairlift and Ferris wheel with my wife. The food was excellent too and the 'Polish platter' was rather unique and I guess a tribute to the locals. It was really good! Most of the cars here had PA tags and we could hear a few folks comment on our NC tag so not too many out of staters I guess. Pennsylvanians should be proud to have this amusement park in their state. We would return in a heartbeat.
