I hope the Mustang Mach-E won't have these issues
I see far too many electric car fire stories. Just saw this one which puts me even further down the road from ever considering an electric to put in my garage.

You're seeing a Dirty Laundry issue. Electric car fires are actually less common than ICE car fires. But the issue is that once a battery pack lights off, it's ON and it's very difficult to stop the blaze. An ICE car can be extinguished if attended to promptly with chemical extinguishers, water, foam... that Tesla or Volt will burn to the ground directly and that right now unless the fire department is on the scene and knows how to battle it (which is also part of the problem, not every fire department knows how to deal with the EVs.)
This is why the cooling systems that are on these things need to run, even when the car's off, because if the batteries get too hot, yes, that's an issue. It'll cause the batteries to wear out prematurely and then cause them to short, and then cause them to light off.
TL;DR: It's rarer than you think, but Don Henley knows of what he speaks.
