Question GT locking question

Hey all, just got my GT Premium/PP/Enhanced security, rear sensor package

My question is, I have the remote in my pocket and I walk up to the car and open in, look around, get out and walk away. When I walk away, should the car *automatically* lock all the doors when it does not sense the key fob, or do you manually lock the doors either on the handle or on the remote?

I was under the impression that anytime the car did not sense the key fob it would lock all the doors automatically for you.

any help would be appreciated

Ive never heard of auto locking but my dad has an Acura TL with the tech package similar to what you described. It won't auto relock but it will lock after a preset time only if you hit the finger reader on the door handle but don't open the door. Im sure its similar to that and that may be what you heard him say.

I believe the auto lock applies to the steering column. After 30 to 45 seconds, you should hear the locking system kicking in . . . . Without cking the manual i believe that is right.

This is correct. I start to drive, and then hear my doors lock after about 15 seconds.

The doors WILL NOT automatically lock if you walk away. You do not need to remove the key fob from your pocket but you still need to tap the three stripped lines on the door handle in order to lock it. Am a ford Tech and haven't heard of this coming out any time soon. It would be really nice if it did!!!
