Clean the Rear Window ..... Really?
 

So I figured I'd clean the inside of the rear window of the new car. Now I know what real torture is. How in the world do you get down into the lower part and get everything clean? Not sure who designed it but they obviously don't own one. Any tricks or hints? Also, I tried Windex Ammonia and Invisible Glass and both were horrible. Anything good out there? Thanks....

I've tried lots of stuff and various devices and still not very clean.

It was designed that way to look stylish but forget trying to clean the inside. Hard to contort this aging body to clean it properly on the inside with those deep dish rear seats.

I'm going to try the Invisible Glass cleaning pad with an arm attached and see if that helps. I'll let you know.

Nevermind. Although my hand mitt blue shop towel, no chemicals needed, don't touch the glass with your hands, do it twice method I'm sure would work... but I dunno about a 2015 to be honest.

Best way I have found so far, hand a thin Windex wipe to my 9 year old and point. :) It works.

It's a lot easier to clean the rear glass if you have a convertible. :grin:

I actually use invisible glass w/rain repellant followed by a thin coat of wax (yes I was the inside part of both windshields) and when I go to buff the wax off it picks up anything left over by the glass cleaner. Leaves it spotless and shining like it rolled off the assembly line.

I haven't quite mastered that yet. But detailing the interior sure is a lot easier with the top down.

This works for me on my previous 12 GT,5.0, MT6 & Brembo plus my present 15 GT, 5.0, MT6 & PP.
I tried to upload a shot of the item but this site said a plug in was out of date so here is an explanation.

The cleaning wand was bought at WalMart but have seen the item at Giant Food in the cleaning section. The wand is made by Clorex and is used to clean your John. The handle is approx 18" long and at one end is a triangle shaped plastic piece that moves up and down and is tacky one one end to hold a cleaning pad.

To clean the window, I spray the window with Invisible Glass, I put a small Microfiber clothe on the tacky end of the wand and in a up and down motion, clean the window. A second clean cloth on the pad, follows up the first cleaning. Since the plastic pad is shaped with a pointed end, it normally gets all of the corners.

PS . . . Using the up and down motion inside the widow and left to right motions outside the window will let you know if you see streaks you will know if they are inside or outside. PS . . . If you wash your Microcloths, DON'T use any softener in the wash as it screws up the cleaning ability .

I will have to try a 2nd time. I have hurt my Rotator Cuff trying the first time and it is impacting my Golf Game now...

You need to get your priorities straight..... A clean back window or your golf game .... :) :)

my neighbor used to swear by using newspapers. Personally, I think he was too cheap to buy anything descent to clean with.

Actually, my detail crew here at the dealership uses newspaper on the inside glass too. It really does work well due to the fiber content of the paper.

One of the joys of owning a rag top, besides the obvious.

The key to dealing with the back glass is to always leave the top down. Problem solved.
