MISSING VELOCITY ACTIVATED GRILL SHUTTERS!
 

I just got delivery of my 2015 Mustang EcoBoost Premium convertible. While doing the first washing/waxing, I noticed that there was a large empty space between my grill and the aluminum of the radiator/intercooler. I had seen videos of the active grill shutters. NOPE...none in my car!!!
Another EcoBoost owner confirmed that his new car had the rotating grill shutters!
My car was one of the 4,000 early February 'holds' and the delivery was delayed for nearly two months.
Do you think that Flat Rock simply forgot to install the shutters? Or was my car one of the 'holds' that was all screwed up?

The rotating shutters were supposedly for airflow control for the turboed EcoBoosts. Will I have any negative effects if the shutters are not there?
Would I have a case against Ford for selling a car that is missing an 'important' vehicle design?:doh:

I had something like this happen to another new car i bought. I was told by the manufacture that if it is not on the Monroney Sticker the car does not get it. That said I would imagine that the computer would have to open and close them and it they were not there you would see a light telling you something was wrong since the only reason they would be there is for better gas mileage. Oh I hate the Government...

They are included because Ford gets a bump in it's government calculated corporate average fuel economy rating (which has basically nothing to do with the MPG on the sticker or real life in general). As far as I've read these shutters haven't been shown to provide any actual real world MPG improvement. I couldn't make a fuss over them. The worst thing would be that your car might take slightly longer to come up to temperature in the winter. But that's about it.

You are assuming that this was missed by accident. Over on the 'other forum' it was explained that the convertibles did not get the shutters. If they are there or not there can you tell what you are missing driving the car?

You don't have the 50th Anniversary Appearance Package, do you?

I do, and that option eliminates the shutters.
