400HP 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost
Not Bad.
http://www.dpccars.com/gallery/var/r...HJoWDqq-JR.jpg From the article: The 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine of the ‘Stang was taken to over 400 ponies and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm), which is quite a long way from the factory stock rating of 310 hp and 230 lb-ft (312 Nm). 3 pictures and video in the gallery . |
Nice! I was wonfering when tuners would get around to it.
|
Mark ...
Stock Mustang 2.3L EB Torque is 320 lb-ft @ 3000 RPM, not 230 !! Doug |
Why does it have to play the cylinder card in the article?
I swear the whole society is a victim society. :shame: |

Hrmm, I would be more impressed if that power was achieved via stock turbo...a turbo upgrade as a claimed "Bolt-on" is a little questionable in my opinion.
|
It's just as much "bolt-on" as a BOSS or CJ intake. It's getting more air into the engine while doing it more efficiently.

24PSI??
Good Lord. I guess they are building these Ecoboost blocks more hardened. But 24PSI doesn't sound like a long engine lifespan to me. |
The brightest stars burn the quickest.
So it is with this... the quickest Ecoboost blows up soon(tm). :D |
Has it blown up yet?
|
I wonder what the cost of mods were. I would expect a 400 horsepower Ecoboost will turn some impressive quarter mile times. The 4 cylinder block should handle 24 psi boost for quite a while. I so want an Ecoboost to play with as a fun car.
|
I will be getting my Ecoboost tuned by Roush soon. I drove an Ecoboost Roush yesterday that has this new tune, which is covered under factory warranty. I was quite impressed! It puts down about 326hp to the wheels. Not sure about the torque numbers. I will keep you posted.

As great as this is, to me it is similar to a 150 pound guy lifting 275 pounds, whereas a 225 pound guy can lift the same 275 pounds without sweating. Work a four cylinder to death to achieve the same horsepower as the 5.0...WHY? Just sayin'
|
I have supercharged Mustangs for when I want max power. I drive my Ecoboost Mustang daily for work, which is mostly highway. The new tune will give me a nice balance of economy and power. That's my reasoning. So far my best mileage on a 200 mile trip has been 33.9 mpgs.
|
Nice, until they start burning up and breaking pistons like the Focus ST is.

I get what you're saying but this is a bad analogy. If a 150LBS guy can lift 275lbs where as a 225lbs guy can lift 275, to me, the 150lbs guy is stronger. Meaning if I am following you, the EB has better potential. |
wow, upgraded turbo and only 400hp? Guys have been getting more out of 4 cylinders than that for YEARS. I'm not that impressed.
