Questions about the V6 2015
 

Hi,
I am about to pull the trigger on a '15 V6 vert, automatic.
I have a few questions:
1) I know it has a new independent rear suspension, would this still the squeaks from the LCA? Since they had so many issues with that, I wonder if they changed the front as well?
2) I read that the M82 is a solid tranny, designed by ZF, I think it is the same in the earlier years too. Is it a solid transmission? Last time I had a Ford I changed 3 before 200.000km...
3) The 3.7, is it the same the one in the trucks? Is it a solid engine?
4) I have been reading about rattles in the dashboard, are the true in this day and age?

I intend to keep the car for 5-6 years. I will no mod it or track it. It will be a DD.

The MT-82 is designed by Getrag but its made in China. It had some teething problems when it came out in 2011. The ZF desgned 6R80 auto is a good trasmission and its made by Ford in the US.

The 3.7 is a great engine and Ive never hear anything bad about it.

I havnt heard any rattles in my car.

Good questions. I've been waffling on a V6 v. Ecoobost right now (First car out of college, or it'd be a GT).

Based on my price shopping in the US, which could be totally inapplicable to Canada, I'd think you could maybe get another $1,000-$1,500 off MSRP.

Also, does anyone know if/how X plan works in Canada? That'd be a good discount too

I have 3,400 miles on my 15 V6 auto. The engine/transmission combination is well sorted and I get 24 MPG with mixed driving. I've had no rattle concerns, just a broken baffle in the exhaust resonator (waiting on dealer to tell me part is in). Good luck and hope this helps

I have a 2015 V-6 051A manual trans. only have 400 miles.. No rattles in dash,,Tranny nice so far,,I do have a vibration at 60 +that feels like a drive shaft vibration but the weather is bad here in upstate NY I havn't driven it to much. Also the first time I put gas in it it the nozzle shut off at 1/2 tank,tried again and slowly got got filled up. when the weather gets better I have to go to ther dealer and have it looked at.

I didnt have to fight for it, most of the '15s are 0% till Feb 2nd in Ontario, as far as I can tell.
The '14s are like 5.9% or something. It doesn't make sense.

For the vibration, I'd put it on the tires and not the drive shaft. Very well known issue on the Ram forums (I drive a Ram now). I'd rotate the tires to see if it feels any different and i'd ask the dealer to balance them again.

20k mi on my 2012 V6. I think this engine actually gets better with age. It also gets a very noticeable kick with premium gas. :metal:

Time will tell on the S550 version of the MT82. Have not heard they changed the internals - sounds mostly like bracket changes? I have not read much about problems with the internals on the S197 forums, and Ford made a nice change with the 550 bracket / shifter. I drove a GT it was awesome.

100k on my 2011 V6 MT82 ... still lovin' it and no problems yet.

Still undecided on whether my S550 will be V6 or EB powered.

Hey, my first post. I traded in my 2011 V6 for a 2015 V6. So far the car is great (after 200 miles). I looked at the 4-banger Eco-Boost but decided against it for two reasons. First, I loved my 3.7L V6 in my 2011, never had a bit of problems with it, and second, both the V6 and the EB have the same hp rating (300 hp), and the EB was $3K more expensive. It was an easy decision for me.


An interesting thing I found in the 2015 owners manual. My 2011 3.7L used 5W-20 oil (I use Lucas Synthetic). All the preliminary published specs from FoMoCo said the 2015 3.7L used 5W-20 also. But the owners manual specified 5W-30 oil. I wonder why the change, the engines are the same?


Another question. I have the standard 17" wheels. Are the standard 17" (or aftermarket) wheels for the 2011-2014 Mustangs interchangeable?

I think if you are keeping it stock, the V-6 is the way to go vs Ecoboost. However, the Ecoboost will offer greater aftermarket choices for performance.

Totally disagree, there's already superchargers, CAI's, headers, exhausts, all kinds of stuff for the V6 performance wise then there are exterior and interior mods as well.. Remember, 25% of total sales are the V6, that's a really big market..

And a V-6 sounds better than a 4. :nice:

So, the 2015 models now get 5W30 oil????

This is why I will probably also get a V6. Only complaint about the ecoboost is the sound. No aftermarket exhaust system will ever exist to fix that :(
