Dead decal
I have a 2003 Mustang 5 speed 3.8, when I bought it it had a faded decal I believe of an eyeball and streaks going along the side. How can I remove the faded old decal without killing the paint. Or is it going to have a faded paint area under it ?

Depending on the situation a bit of fishing line and a heat gun/hair dryer will let you get between the decal and the body panel and 'saw' it off the car. Unless it's just a 'flat' sticker kind of thing, in which case, you'll just have to carefull peel it off and/or use some goof off or something like that to help dissolve the adhesive. Heat may still be usable. Steam may work as well. Fingernails, if you don't mind a little buffing the light scratches afterward.
No matter what, if the decal's faded, the paint behind it *has not* in relation to the paint around it. So there'll be an outline most likely no matter what you do. It may can be addressed/stressed to match the paint around it, but there's no guarantee. And it could be not faded and you'd never see it. Only one way to find out...

WD40 works great to dissolve the adhesive backing and doesn't affect the paint either.
