2013 gt/cs Hood will not lock down

When I open my hood to check the oil or install something new like the JLT oil separators that I just installed I have a hell of a time closing the hood it seems like it just does not want to catch. Anybody else have this and know of a fix?

Cristoff Mar 11, 2013 06:31 PM

I haven't had any trouble at all with mine. When it's closed, does it line up properly? If the hood stops are off it could make it difficult.

Not many good ideas for you - sorry! Best of luck

How do you close the hood? 1. The set down and push 2. The drop and lock

Stew5.0 Mar 12, 2013 03:07 PM

Set down and push I don't want to just drop it down.

Ibnzmonkey Mar 14, 2013 09:28 PM

Have you tried pushing down the hood?

The California Special is just that. You are supposed to have hot bikini clad women sitting on the hood holding it down. You did say you put on a CIA. are you sure non of that is interfering.

Yo Bro thanks for the advice but stick to the topic and there is no mention what so ever about a CIA

I always drop. That aluminum is too flimsy to push on IMO. About a foot high and it locks great.

I agree, I drop it also, rather drop it then risk putting a inboard dent on hood I stamp the hoods for the Flex and Edge and MKT I know just how easy they can bend.

You can't drop one that has struts on it.

I have the MRT Hood struts and I can drop the hood just fine at a foot.

I went with MRT over the Redline because I like the smaller gas shock. It holds the hood up just fine. Once you get the hood 75% closed, the gas shocks give way making it possible for you to drop the hood with out any issues.
