roll cage for GT vertible

Has anyone installed a roll cage in their 10-14 GT convertible?

Debating this instead of the 'styling' or 'lightbars'. An extra level of roll over protection and chassis rigidity trumps looks IMO.

I would then simply wrap it in some padding.

i have found this one. Wondering if there's one with removable door bars around somewhere too? No plans to drag this pony really, but more a pice of mind with options.

I wanted one of those for mine instead of the styling bar I had. I would probably paint it first because they do rust even from just humidity. My thoughts were to get it upholstered also. Shouldn't cost that much to get it wrapped in foam and covered to match your interior.

I installed an autopower 4 point bar in my old 97..... I felt the same way about the light bars and not really having much functionality. I had the Autopower bar custom upholstered with foam and black pleather and it looked awesome.

Best part was that it tightened everything up to. I remember being pleasantly surprised when I closed the door for the first time....almost Mercedes like solid!

I had one in my 2006, and it will be going in my 2013 with some modifications. I had mine custom built here by a local guy.

And I had the swing outs for the doors - they aren't something that you want to use driving around town though - a little bit of a pain - so I removed them until I got to the track and then installed them.

I like yours too. The one from CJ Pony is ok, but the lower cross bar will block my seat too much. I'd look into a custom seat bar that allows some extra recline room like your custom one does.

I assume your door bars are easily removed?

Door bars are very easy to remove. At the top is a quick release (see the blue button) and pin that pulls out. The bottom is a bolt and nut, so 10mm wrench on the top to hold it, and 10mm on the bottom to undo the nut, pull the bolt out and the door bar comes out.

You can see both the quick release pin and bolt/nut on pictures 5 & 6

I am interested in purchasing a 6-point roll bar with harness for both driver and passenger. My question is, are the door bars retractable, is the rollbars a bolt-in application or weld-in and do you sell 5-point harnesses? I would also request an installer in the southeast region of Florida. Thank you for your assistance. Michael Kowalczyk Ph #772-283-3972

Welcome To Tms Michael,

To Be Clear You Are in the 2010-2014 Section. What Year Exactly Do You Have?

Is This For Some Sort of Competition Regulations or Merely Personal Styling or Safety?

Lots of Custom Shops in Your Area I Would Think! Should Be Able To Build Exactly What You are Requesting.

@JimC Has a Nice Setup Perhaps if You Like It You Could Print Out Pics as a Template For A Custom Shop. Jim is Still Active Here on TMS And I Did a Page For You To See if He Has Any Advice!

@fabman May Have Some Input as Well He Does Custom Work!

Mine was custom built locally. The door bars swing out for easy entry/exit when they are installed. For daily driving the door bars came out by pulling the pin at the top and removing a bolt at the bottom. It was a bolt in with plates welded to the car, with nuts welded to the plate.

What year is your Mustang? You didn't specify in your initial post... In order to provide accurate info, we require the year and model of your vehicle!
