Is DIB hard to keep clean?
 

A quick question for all of you deep impact blue owners: Is it a hard color to keep looking good day to day?
It looks fantastic in every picture I see but I'm wondering how it looks when a little dirt gets on it.

Like any dark color it does show dirt easily. Not as bad as black but I wash mine twice a week.

If its similar to Kona then YES. Kona shows every little dust speck and swirls marks as bad as black does.

From what I've seen Deep Impact seems at least a little lighter than Kona so it might be a little better *crosses fingers*. I don't want a color I have to baby all the time, but the blue just looks sooo good when it is clean. :)

Mine shows dust really badly.

I don't know if it's the paint preservation products I use or what but mine is pretty clean most of the time. Especially after it rains. People seem to think I wash my car all the time. I just take good care of it. Much better than the black car I had before this one. DIB is much lighter than Kona. I was parked next to a Kona 12' GT-500 today and it was really noticable.

Care to share what you use for preservation :) DIB is definitely hard to keep clean.

I agree with you on the color difference. It is very noticeably different when next to kona. Kona look like how DIB look in the dark but at all times, almost navy blue, but DIB look noticeably different in bright sunny daylight.

I am pretty A nol about my car being clean so I do a total clean and refinish every 6 months and then maintain when I see something that needs attention. I usually do these steps every 6 months and use quick detailer in between waxes.

1. Wash (two bucket method used for every wash)
2. Clay
3. Wash
4. Glaze (deepness)
5. Synthetic sealer (hard protection/less wear)
6. Wax (use a good carnaba to get a good gloss)

Check out autogeek dot net to get some good info and some of the products. I also just started using Groit's interior cleaner to keep the inside looking good. That stuff is pretty amazing. They carry that line at my local Autozone surprisingly. There are lots of good videos on that site. Check out some of the reviews on the car care thread in here as well. I'm a little old school so I use Meguire's Pro line stuff but there are lots of good ones out there depending on how much you want to spend. I use these because I don't want to spend a crazy amount of money when I don't have too.

Yes! I love griot products. I been using their wax spray for awhile now and it is so easy to use and it shine really well. However, I did notice the shine does not last but that is probably expected from a spray wax. I recently started using turtle wax again and that stuff is cheap and work pretty well. Actually is listed as top 3 wax under consumer reviews and many other review sites.. lol

I have to definitely make some time to clay and the whole nine before winter.

Put some yellow #26 Meg's on it after and then a spray detailer and you will get the shine that you want.

Once you get it right then the rest should be pretty easy, especially if you have a garage to put her in. I don't and she's my DD. She's due for a good wash and some rubbin'.
