I was thinking of a all-season set of tires mounted up for trips and etc. I think that I will look at the all-season run-flat tires on some nice 19" GT rims. I think that would make me feel more confortable on trips non-comp driving. I see now why some companys were doing the run-flats.

Thanks PT, I do understand the limited and locker rears but not the Torsen since that is new to me. I was wondering if there is any issue of having a spare that is not equal to the other side in any way. My knowledge of a Torsen is limited and only comes from what I have read since ordering the car and nothing address this issue.

The 2007-09 18" GT500 wheel should fit over 2012 Boss 302 front brakes (same 14" dia.). These are however 9.5" wide, so I did some searching on TireRack & DiscountTireDirect for narrower rims that will fit GT500/2011 Brembo GT ... well, D-T-D showed various 18x8" Drag DR-34 wheels ($150 each) that supposedly will fit over the Brembos.
A 225/50-18 tire will mount on an 8" wide wheel (no wider though) and it's 26.858" dia. MAY just fit down in the trunk well without deflating ... there are 29 choices in this size on T-R & 14 on D-T-D. This tire is only 0.06% smaller than the Boss/GT500 fronts & Brembo GT F/R (255/40-19 = 27.03" dia) and the SAME basic dia. as the Boss/GT500 rears (285/35-19 = 26.854" dia.), so there should never be a differential issue on cars with a std. T-Lok.

Doug, thanks for the excellent research on potential spare tire/wheel issues. After my car gets here I may take it to Discount Tire and just test fit a plain 225/50-18 into the trunk. If no fit issues, you have done the legwork to handle the spare issue.

... this guy appears to have taken a chance on my "full-size" spare wheel & tire recommendation from D-T-D (post #24) to fit over the Brembo's.
He has not only found that it fits perfect over both front & rear BUT it even fits down in the spare well fully inflated to 35 PSI and protrudes above the trunk floor only 1.5" !!
Even better yet this 225/50-18 tire is only 0.06% smaller than the Boss/GT500 fronts & Brembo GT F/R (255/40-19 = 27.03" dia vs. 26.858") and the SAME basic dia. as the Boss/GT500 rears (285/35-19 = 26.854" dia.), so there should never be a differential issue on cars with a std. Seriously, the Torsen isn't an issue as said above it doesn't have any clutches. Personally I'm not getting a Boss but for long trips I'll likely pick up a normal GT spare. It won't clear my Brembos but it will clear the backs -- if I get a flat on the front I'll just put the spare on the back and put the back tire on the front.

Hmm, my 19's are really close spec-wise to what comes on the Boss - I was pretty sure they would. We'll have to find out.
But if not, no worries, for I shall also have track wheels :-)

I got a flat on my LS within 20 hours of having it. the kit is only good for showing you where the hole is. it was a crazy day on the side of I-75 in southern MI.
I was super lucky. My father in law saw me on the side of the road going the other way. He turned around, stopped to make sure I was ok, then ran and got a patch kit. I inflated the tire tire with the supplied pump.

I just purchased a 2013 GT and of course it comes only with the silly inflation kit. I also have 20" custom wheels. I obtained a full sized spare that fits into my well like a glove, and the rim will also fit over the front Brembo brake caliper. In addition, there is room under the rim to stash the inflation kit, plus a scissors jack and a lug wrench! And the floor covering of the trunk does not stick up!
I got a 19X8.5 DRG DR37 FB 73 rim and mounted a 225/45R-19XL tire. It is perfect! I need two different thinwall sockets for the lugs on the custom wheels and the spare rim. I now will not get stuck in the middle of nowhere away from cell reception waiting for someone from "The Hills Have Eyes" to find me and offer a hand.
