Recomendations for AL 1-piece driveshaft upgrade
 
Are most all aftermarket AL parts more or less categorically the same?



I'm convinced carbon fiber is more or less bragging rights without much of a significant improvement over AL- I can't justify spending over a G on this upgrade anyway.

Can't speak for all aftermarket driveshafts out there but less rotational mass is a big plus.
I have the DSS 3-1/2" DS and it took off more than 18 pounds off my Boss.

The main difference between the CF stuff and aluminum stuff is basically the CF DS will disintegrate in an accident, versus the AL can possibly puncture the fuel tank/cabin/or anything else, due to it being one piece.

If you mean do they all offer imperceptible performance improvements, yes.

I went with the DSS aluminum shaft. Removed the slop inherent in the two piece system.


Recommend.

Had a Driveshaft Shop Alum. DS installed last week. I've incredibly happy with mine, both in the removal of the backlash I was getting from the center joint and the better responsiveness from the car. I couldn't be happier.

Any new noises or side effects you have noticed with the new one? I've read so many mixed reviews.

Here is a review that was just done on our driveshaft:

And, if you are concerned that you might lose some of that factory NVH, don’t sweat it.

“We have tested our driveshafts with various modification and gearing combinations and experienced no increase in NVH,” says Steeda. “We even tested this driveshaft in an automatic GT with 3.73 gears—no knocking, increased noise, or ‘clunking’ whatsoever!”
