If FOMOCO does not make a 2014 Boss, all bets are off?

My 2012 Boss is the first domestic vehicle that I have purchased in 30 years.

My last domestic car was a 1982 Mustang GT 5.0. I read the the CA Highway patrol bought some as pursuit vehicles.

If they were good enough for the CA Highway Patrol, I figured the car was reliable and good enough for me.

The vehicle was reliable but of terrible quality.

What a difference 30 years makes! I proudly wear the "built with pride by the UAW men and women" sticker on my left rear window.

My last 4 Sports cars were 2-911's, a Boxster S and a 1973 deTomaso Pantera.

The 2012 Boss is my favorite Sports Car by far. The Recaro seats are the best that I have had in any vehicle that I have owned.

Congrats to Ford and the UAW for making a quality vehicle that is a joy to
drive

Based on upcoming emissions and fuel economy laws it looks as though the 2012-2013 Boss may represent the end of an era not unlike the death of the high performance cars in the early 1970's.

I respectfully disagree. Congrats on your car though.

I agree with all of this. Got any info on the emissions and fuel economy regulations?

MBZ is putting a 4 cylinder in their S Class, so the future is clear.

I know that BMW and MBZ pay hefty fuel economy penalties built into the MSRP of their vehicles. The car buyers are paying for that.

There even is 4 cylinder turbocharged Range Rover Evoque.

I was under the impression that the Boss was only going to be a 2012-2013 model run anyways.

Remember that in the near future, we are talking about AVERAGE fuel economy for the whole company, not model by model.

The muscle cars will stay, but possibly cost more, or be more limited in production by the manufacturer as not to grossly affect such an average.

Look for a Boss 351 for 2014. It will be a short run with the 50th anniversary 2014 1/2 following closely behind.

Thanks to the political climate these days, it's easy to forget (or misunderstand) how important strong labor is to our way of life in this country.

UAW is doing great things these days and I'm proud to support them.

are you saying that you think the 2014 1/2 will be the all-new stang?

any informed guesses on what happens to the gt500 post-2013? doesn't seem that there's much else that can be done there.

I'll predict that the anticipated 2014 Boss 351 is the GT500 set-up badged as a Boss 351 and they drop the Shelby GT500 name. They launched the 2013 with him proclaiming the best/his favorite ever? Nothing conversion related happens at the Shelby enterprise any longer. For the marketing dollar on a short-run, that just makes the most sense.

It just feels kind of strange that they would come out with a normally aspirated 5.8 when the majority of the Ford Racing development has been on the 5.0.

Of course, we are all hanging our expectations on Perciak's comment of history will repeat itself.

I wholeheartedly agree that we are seeing the end of the era of plentiful, extremely powerful cars. Performance is going to fall off a cliff in the next few years. It's like when we went from 1970 to 1973. Once people realize that they'll probably have to wait 40 years to see another 400+ hp car, if at all, they're gonna freak. Buy these spectacular cars while you can. It's almost over.

I was driving on the Ohio turnpike a few days ago (in early December!) and was passed by a yellow De Tomaso Pantera. I was so shocked that I called one of my car buddies and told him about it. He's about 45 and said he'd seen pictures, but never seen one on the road. I am (slightly?) older and had to admit I remember when they were new.
By the way, I agree that the Boss is a GREAT car after just under 4,000 miles on mine. I also have to agree that we need to buy these cars while we can. We may be able to get 400 + HP cars in the future, but the price will most likely go up....A LOT.

Nope just conjecture. Per Marc's coment "Of course, we are all hanging our expectations on Perciak's comment of history will repeat itself." This was after a TMS member asked Dave if there were any plans for the Boss after 2013. Dave was probably BS'ing and is laughing his A$$ off with all the internet speculation. I keep spreading the rumor every chance I get.

Thanks Rick.....I pride myself on keeping tabs on the latest rumours, so was worried I'd missed a trick!

Never underestimate the power of the internet though........we could end up with a self-fullfilling prophecy

So......

'14 Boss 351 or Boss 429 please

Would have loved to have a Pantera. Sick.

Why the fervor for more cubic inches? The modern boss as so much HP. And eventually with a tune and exhaust, there will be more than enough for me. I have trouble keeping the car straight as it is. No disrespect, just noting that modern 5.0 could probably take and old 10.0.
