Dead Battery Options
so i think my battery in the boss has seen its days. ive had to charge it the last 3 times i tried to start the car (car has been sitting over winter since Oct).
i know in my 05-09 it was the same battery as what is in the boss but have seen on the forums to upgrade to the bxt-40r (to replace the bxt-96r). i will probably keep the original battery just for keepsake with the car but has anyone else upgraded the battery or just bought the same stock battery that came with it? i will also be buying a trickle charger over the weekend also to hopefully take care of this situation in future years. thanks, |
Yes, get a trickle charger
Even with a good battery, you should either use a trickle charger or disconnect it if you are not running it every couple of weeks or so.
My 2006 came with a bxt-40r, which still holds a good charge 10 years later. That doesn't mean that EVERY bxt-40r with do that on every car. Batteries are always hit or miss.:banghead: I vote for getting a battery that looks like it belongs with the car and has a good warranty. |

Like the posters above have stated, it is always a good idea to get a battery charger. Your battery will drain very quickly, especially in winter climates.

Any good replacement batteries? I usually go to Sears for my Truck battery, but wondering if I should get one at Ford this time? Did not last too long, only 25k plus....

Boss would not start, so I ended up picking up a decent battery at Auto Zone and putting it in myself. They only had one battery to choose from, that would fit.
