Check out the Jay Leno video on this forum. Jay refers to a special key and the Ford rep quickly tries to move past it and says that it's a secret for now.
Many of us suspect that key must unlock some extra boost to the car's engine/and or redline.
Hopefully all is revealed within a few weeks.

i think you're right .the key must be a code into the car's computer to make it go faster for the trackor road..?.. maybe it will be only offered to the LS...

500HP would put the Roadrunner in the elite 100HP/Litre category for a naturally aspirated production motor. Nice. The only motors to do so (that have the same or larger capacity) are the following:
Enzo: 6L/660hp
F1: 6.1L/627hp
CLK GTR: 6.8L/720hp
BMW 5L V10: 500hp
Enzo: 6L/660hp
F1: 6.1L/627hp
CLK GTR: 6.8L/720hp
BMW 5L V10: 500hp

at this point I would be surprised if it made less than 500. It is the race engine afterall.

You really think the Boss is going to have 500hp? Ford is saying 440hp, so I find it hard to believe that there is actually another 60hp hidden in a purely stock engine. I'm not saying it's not possible to get it out of the 5.0, I just don't think it's there with just a turn of a red key.
